ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Brown women's hockey team was defeated by RIT, 4-2, on Saturday at the Gene Polisseni Center. After 15 combined penalties and three power-play goals scored in game one, the two teams duplicated the result as 15 infractions were also called and three special team tallies were recorded in the series finale.
Senior Maybelline Beiring (Calumet, Mich.) was able to score a power-play goal for Brown (0-2-0) while junior Darby Melia (Marshfield, Mass.) registered the Bears' first goal of the season in the second period.
"We had a slow start which ultimately hurt us," said head coach Carisa Zaban Wahlig. "I like that we continued the habit of out shooting them in the second and third period. We scored some beautiful goals and had our chances, but just couldn't connect."

The Bears concluded the stanza going 1-for-4 on the power-play while RIT duplicated its first period total and was 1-for-3.
Neither team put in a score in the third as Brown outshot the home squad, 11-7, while each team was shutout on the power-play (0-for-2).
