
Cummings, Raphino Earn National Recognition from Top Drawer Soccer

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University women's soccer junior center back Sydney Cummings has earned a spot on Top Drawer Soccer's Midseason Top-100 Watch List and freshman forward Brittany Raphino has gained a spot in the top quarter of the organization's Top-100 Freshmen Watch List, Top Drawer Soccer announced on Wednesday.
A native of Millstone Township, N.J., Cummings checks in as the No. 92 player in the nation and as the only Ivy League player in the rankings. She has helped the Brown defense rank tied for first in the NCAA in fewest goals allowed (three), second in goals-against average (0.27) and third in save percentage (.909), while posting eight shutouts in 11 matches. Brown junior goalkeeper Kayla Thompson (Austin, Texas) leads the NCAA in GAA (0.22) and ranks second in save percentage (.926).
Cummings has played all 1,010 minutes on the season. Over the course of her career, she has played 3,933 of a possible 3,952 minutes (99.5 percent) and aided the Bears to 19 clean sheets.
A native of Randolph, Mass., Raphino ranks as the No. 24 freshman in the nation and as the No. 2 freshman in the Ivy League according to Top Drawer Soccer. She stands tied for the team lead in goals (four) and sits second on the team in points (10). Raphino won Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors on Oct. 7 after scoring the game-winning goal in the Bears' 2-0 road win at Columbia (Oct. 6).
Freshman Ava Seelenfreund (Truckee, Calif.) has created a dynamic rookie attacking duo for the Bears alongside Raphino. Seelenfreund earned a spot on New England Soccer Journal's Top-10 Freshmen Standouts list and gained Ivy League Rookie of the Week on Oct. 14 after netting the game-winning goal in Brown's 1-0 win over Princeton (Oct. 12). She leads the team in points (12) and is tied for the team high in goals (four) and assists (four).
At 9-1-1, Brown has posted its best record through 11 games since notching an undefeated (13-0-1) regular season in 1984. The Bears are 3-0-0 in Ivy play for the first time since 1994. Brown is 8-0-0 at home in 2019 (outscoring opponents 18-2) and 11-0-0 in its last 11 home matches (outscoring opponents 30-3).
In the latest rankings from Oct. 14, the Bears check in at No. 5 in the NCAA RPI and at No. 13 in the Top Drawer Soccer national poll.
Next, the Bears play at Harvard (10-2-0, 3-0-0 Ivy) on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 3:00 p.m. (ESPN+) in a matchup featuring the top two teams in the Ivy League standings.
