
Women’s Hockey Travels to RPI (Fri.) and Union (Sat.)

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's hockey team is back on the road and will play at Rensselaer on Friday, Nov. 9 at 6:00 p.m. and at Union on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 3:00 p.m. in ECAC games. Friday's contest will be streamed on rpitv.org while Saturday's game will appear on ESPN+.

SCOUTING THE ENGINEERS
RPI is 2-5-2 on the season and is 0-2-0 in the ECAC. The Engineers dropped their two contests last week to No. 10/9 St. Lawrence (5-0, Nov. 2) and No. 3/3 Clarkson (3-0, Nov. 3). RPI's last win came the week before versus RIT, 3-2, on Oct. 27. Blake Orosz (2-3-5) and Sabrina Repaci (1-4-5) are tied for the team lead in points. Repaci has a team-best four assists while Jaimie Grigsby leads the Engineers in goals with three while also having one assist. Lovisa Selander has started all nine games in net and has a 1.94 goals-against average and a .946 save percentage. She was named ECAC Goaltender of the Week on Oct. 15 after she stopping 93 of the 95 shots she faced in the Robert Morris series, including a 58-save shutout on Oct. 12 which secured a 1-0 victory. Selander leads the ECAC in saves on the year with 299. As a team, RPI ranks second in the conference in penalty kill, fighting off 94.1% of its infractions.
SCOUTING THE DUTCHWOMEN
Union brings a 2-8-1 record into the weekend and is winless in ECAC play at 0-2-0. The Dutchwomen have lost three straight including last weekend's league series against No. 3/3 Clarkson (5-1, Nov. 2) and No. 10/9 St. Lawrence (3-0, Nov. 3). Prior to hosting the Bears on Saturday, Union will welcome Yale on Friday, Nov. 9. Arianna Kosakowski leads the squad in points with five on two goals and a team-high three assists. Haley Shugart is tied for second on the team in points with four, all on goals which leads the Dutchwomen. Coco Francis has seen the most action in net with seven starts and has a 3.62 GAA and a .882 save percentage. Amelia Murray has also seen time between the pipes and has a 2.82 GAA and a .918 save percentage in four starts.
BROWN LEADERS
Sena Hanson leads the Bears in scoring with nine points on a team-best six goals and three assists. The junior was named ECAC Player of the Week on Monday, Nov. 5 after she recorded four goals, including two game winners, and one assist in two 4-3 upset victories over No. 9/10 Colgate and No. 6/6 Cornell last weekend. Freshman Shay Maloney (1-7-8) is tied for second on the team in scoring with freshman Lizzy Gross (5-3-8) with eight points, pacing the Bears in assists with seven. Junior Calla Isaac leads the netminder group with five starts and a 2.65 GAA and a .928 save percentage. She was named ECAC Goaltender of the Week after she made 38 saves in both of Brown's victories last weekend, with 16 in a scoreless the third period versus the Raiders and 11 against the Big Red in another scoreless third.
LAST TIME OUT
Brown recorded two thrilling upsets last weekend, defeating No. 9/10 Colgate 4-3 on Nov. 2 and No. 6/6 Cornell, 4-3, on Nov. 3.
Against the Raiders, the Bears trailed 3-1 early in the second period but fought back with goals from freshman Tina Paolillo and junior Sena Hanson. Hanson then provided the game winner at 7:43 of the third while junior Calla Isaac made 16 saves in the frame to give Brown the upset victory.
Versus the Big Red, Hanson again recorded two goals and had the game winner at 17:28 of the second. Isaac also duplicated her performance against Colgate and had 38 saves, registering 11 in a scoreless third period to preserve the victory.
BEARS RECEIVING VOTES IN BOTH NATIONAL POLLS
Brown is receiving votes in both the USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls, recently released on Monday, Nov. 5 and Tuesday, Nov. 6, respectively.
The Bears upset nationally-ranked Colgate and Cornell this past weekend, both by the scores of 4-3. Brown joins Clarkson (3/3), Cornell (7/7), St. Lawrence (9/9) and Colgate (10/10) in the polls from the ECAC while Princeton is also receiving votes in the USCHO.com Poll. The last time Brown received votes was during the 2006-07 season on Oct. 23.
HOME SWEET HOME
Brown is 4-0 this season at Meehan Auditorium with wins over Holy Cross (3-1, Oct. 19), UConn (5-3, Oct. 23), No. 9/10 Colgate (4-3, Nov. 2) and No. 6/6 Cornell (4-3, Nov. 3). The victories against the Huskies, Raiders and Big Red were all come-from-behind wins.
