
Rosen Wins Rookie of the Year, Five Bears Earn Women’s Soccer All-Ivy

PRINCETON, N.J. – Brown University women's soccer freshman midfielder Rebecca Rosen has earned Ivy League Rookie of the Year honors and is among five Bears to gain All-Ivy accolades via a vote of the league's eight head coaches, the Ivy League conference office announced on Wednesday.
Rosen (Port Washington, N.Y.) stands as the Bears' first Ivy League Rookie of the Year since 2003 and the program's sixth all-time winner of the award. She also gained Second Team All-Ivy.
Junior midfielder Abby Carchio (Lakeville, Mass.) garnered First Team All-Ivy for the second straight season while sophomore forward Star White (Norfolk, Va.) and sophomore back Sydney Cummings (Millstone Township, N.J.) both collected Second Team All-Ivy plaudits for the second consecutive year. Sophomore back Cameron Brown (Portsmouth, Va.) took home Honorable Mention All-Ivy laurels for her first career All-Ivy award.
Rosen tallied 10 points on four goals and two assists on the year with three of her four goals and eight of her 10 points coming in conference play. In Ivy League play, she ranked third in the conference in points (eight), third in goals (three), and sixth in assists (two).
Carchio put together an outstanding season with 28 points on 10 goals and eight assists. She led the league in points (28) and assists (eight), while ranking second in goals (10). In Ivy play, she stood first in the conference in assists (six), second in points (12), and third in goals (three). She more than tripled her goal total (three) and more than doubled her point total (12) from her first two seasons combined.
White totaled 13 points on the year with five goals and three assists. She ranked eighth in the Ancient Eight in points (13) and seventh in goals (five). In conference play, she ranked third in the league with three goals.
Cummings served as Brown's primary center back for the second consecutive season, playing 1,538 of a possible 1,557 minutes on the year (98.8 percent). The Bears' minutes played leader for the second straight year, she scored her first two collegiate goals this season.
Brown contributed to the Bears' back line and defensive midfield, making 14 starts and playing 1,201 minutes on the year. She played the full 90 minutes in five of the Bears' Ivy League games. She and Cummings helped the Bears post five shutouts as a team this fall.
As a team, the Bears concluded the season with 29 goals, marking their highest goal total since netting 37 goals in 2006. Brown finished the year with a record of .500 or better for the fourth straight season.
