
Women’s Hockey Falls at Quinnipiac, 4-0

HAMDEN, Conn. - The Brown women's hockey team was defeated by Quinnipiac, 4-0, in its first ECAC game on Friday night at Frank Perrotti, Jr. Arena. The Bobcats recorded a pair of goals in each period to hand the Bears their first loss of the season. With the result, Brown moves to 3-1-0 on the season while Quinnipiac gains its first win to move to 1-4-2.
Freshman Lizzy Gross (Scarborough, Maine) paced the Bears' offense in shots on goal with four while five other players generated two shots.
Junior Calla Isaac (Sherwood Park, Alberta) concluded the night with 21 saves, which included 11 in a scoreless final period.
Kate MacKenzie registered the first tally of the game at 8:53 of the opening period to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead. Taylor House then made it 2-0 at 14:20. Quinnipiac held a 9-5 edge in shots in a quick period that had no penalties.
The Bears peppered the Bobcat net to open the second and outshot the home team 8-5 in the stanza but Quinnipiac would change the momentum with a power-play opportunity and extra skater score by Lexie Adzija at 4:41. Grace Markey increased the Bobcats' lead to four at 15:13. Quinnipiac finished the frame 1-for-2 on the power play while Brown was shutout in both of its attempts.
Both teams skated through a scoreless third with Quinnipiac holding a 11-4 advantage in shots while each team went 2-for-2 on the penalty kill.
Brown will next close out the weekend at Princeton tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 27, in a 3:00 p.m. game on ESPN+.
