PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University women's soccer hosts Cornell University at Stevenson-Pincince Field on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. (ESPN+) as the Bears continue a stretch where they play four of their final five contests at home.

THE IVY LEAGUE ON ESPN

LAST TIME OUT
Sophomore Star White (Norfolk, Va.) scored a pair of goals in the first half, but Brown fell to Harvard University, 3-2, on Saturday at Stevenson-Pincince Field. The Bears held a 2-0 lead at halftime before the visiting Crimson netted three goals in the second half. White (Norfolk, Va.) netted goals in the fourth and 16^th minutes, posting two goals in a game for the first time in her career. Junior Abby Carchio (Lakeville, Mass.) and freshman Rebecca Rosen (Port Washington, N.Y.) each registered two assists on the day.

ROSEN WINS IVY ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Freshman forward Rebecca Rosen (Port Washington, N.Y.) won Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors on Oct. 8 following the Bears' comeback win over defending Ivy League champion Princeton. Rosen scored a goal in the 42^nd minute as Brown rallied from a 2-0 deficit to beat Princeton, 3-2. She found the back of the net at the 41:59 mark, driving a shot into the goal from the edge of the penalty area to begin the Bears' comeback. Rosen played the full 90 minutes for the Bears, dropping back into the midfield from her usual forward position to fill a needed role.

THE PRINCETON WIN
With a 3-2 come-from-behind win at Princeton (Oct. 6), Brown posted back-to-back road wins (2016, 2018) at Princeton for the first time since the Bears claimed road victories against the Tigers in 1992 and 1994. Freshmen Rebecca Rosen (Port Washington, N.Y.) and Claire Myers (Fairport, N.Y.) and sophomore Star White (Norfolk, Va.) each scored a goal as the Bears rallied from a 2-0 deficit to beat the Tigers – the defending Ivy League champions – 3-2. Goals from the contest featured in both the Ivy Top 5 Plays of the Week and the NCAA Soccer Top 5 Plays of the Week.

CARCHIO CATALYZES OFFENSE
Junior midfielder Abby Carchio (Lakeville, Mass.) leads Brown with 14 points on the year on five goals and four assists and has eclipsed her goal total (three) and point total (12) from her first two seasons combined. She ranks fifth in the Ivy League in both points (14) and goals (five), while leading the league with three assists in conference play. Carchio scored a pair of goals, including the game-winning goal in overtime, in a 3-2 win over UMass Lowell (Sept. 18). In a 2-1 overtime win against Holy Cross (Sept. 9), she scored a goal in the 29^th minute and assisted on the decisive goal in overtime off a corner kick. She scored the game-winning goal in the 45^th minute in a 1-0 win over Sacred Heart (Aug. 31) and netted a goal in a 5-0 win vs. URI (Sept. 16).

A STAR IN IVY PLAY
Sophomore Star White (Norfolk, Va.) has scored three goals in her last two games and ranks second in the Ancient Eight with three goals in conference play. She tallied a pair of goals against Harvard (Oct. 13) and netted a goal in the Bears' 3-2 comeback win at Princeton (Oct. 6).

ROSEN HAS GOAL ON RADAR
Freshman forward Rebecca Rosen (Port Washington, N.Y.) has scored three goals this season with two coming off headers. In Ivy League play, she ranks second in the conference with six points on two goals and two assists. Rosen netted the first goal in the Bears' 3-2 comeback win at Princeton (Oct. 3). She scored the game-winning goal in Brown's 2-1 overtime victory over Holy Cross (Sept. 9), netting her first collegiate goal in the 95^th minute off a corner kick. Rosen scored an equalizer in the 88^th minute with a header off a free kick against Columbia (Sept. 29). She posted a pair of assists vs. Harvard (Oct. 13).

G'BYE, G'BYE, G'BYE
Freshman Maesyn G'Bye (Ladera Ranch, Calif.) leads Brown and ranks third in the Ivy League with five assists. She has posted five assists over her last five games, beginning with two assists vs. Rhode Island (Sept. 16). She notched one assist apiece against UMass Lowell (Sept. 18), Columbia (Sept. 29), and Princeton (Oct. 6). G'Bye has consistently created chances for the Bears with her long throw-ins and left-footed service on free kicks and corner kicks.

ETZEL SELECTED AS SENIOR CLASS AWARD CANDIDATE
Senior goalkeeper Christine Etzel (Madison, Conn.) earned selection as one of 30 candidates for the 2018 Senior CLASS Award in women's soccer for her notable achievements both on and off the field. A three-time All-Ivy and two-time All-New England selection, Etzel (Madison, Conn.) ranks third all-time at Brown in shutouts (21), fourth in wins (30), and eighth in saves (249). A Biology major with a focus on Biotechnology and Physiology, Etzel is a pre-medicine student interested in becoming an Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Surgeon.

CUMMINGS JOINS ATTACK
After not scoring in her first 23 collegiate games, sophomore center back Sydney Cummings (Millstone Township, N.J.) found the back of the net in back-to-back games against Rhode Island (Sept. 16) and UMass Lowell (Sept. 18). She netted the game-winning goal in Brown's 5-0 win over URI and scored in the 62^nd minute in a 3-2 (OT) win over UMass Lowell. Both of her goals have come off corner kicks.

GUERRERO IN GOAL
Sophomore goalkeeper Maria Guerrero (San Juan, Puerto Rico) made her first career Ivy League start at Princeton (Oct. 6), making five saves in the Bears 3-2 comeback win. Guerrero – who played as the starting goalie for Puerto Rico's national team in World Cup qualifiers in May 2018 – made three saves in a shutout win over Rhode Island (Sept. 16) in her collegiate debut.

BONUS SOCCER
Brown has played in four overtime games thus far in 2018, posting a 2-1-1 record in those contests. The Bears have notched a 2-1 win over Holy Cross (Sept. 9), a 3-2 win over UMass Lowell (Sept. 18), and a 0-0 draw vs. Vermont (Sept. 13). Last season, Brown set a program record with four overtime victories.

QUINTET OF GOALS
In Brown's 5-0 win over Rhode Island (Sept. 16), the Bears scored five goals in a game for the first time since a 5-1 win over Francis Marion on Oct. 12, 2011. Brown gained a five-goal advantage in a game for the first time since a 5-0 win over Sacred Heart on Oct. 15, 2008.

ETZEL IN NET
Senior goalkeeper Christine Etzel (Madison, Conn.) has started 57 of the Bears' last 61 games. She ranks third in the Ivy League in saves per game (4.00). Etzel stopped eight shots at Providence (Sept. 6). She totaled 18 saves over Brown's opening weekend, stopping eight shots at Pepperdine (Aug. 24) and 10 shots at UC Santa Barbara (Aug. 26) – her second career game with double-figure saves. She ranks third on Brown's career shutouts list with 21 shutouts, fourth on Brown's career wins list with 30 wins, and eighth on Brown's career saves list with 249 saves. Etzel won the 2016 Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year award and is a three-time All-Ivy selection.

THE DEFENSE
Through 13 games, the Brown defense has allowed 17 goals with a team GAA of 1.28. Sophomore back Sydney Cummings (Millstone Township, N.J.), senior back Nicole Phillips (Rolling Hills Estates, Calif.), and freshmen back Lauren Hinton (Middletown, Conn.) have anchored the Bears' back line. Cummings earned Second Team All-Ivy in 2017, and Phillips gained Honorable Mention All-Ivy in 2016.

YOUTH IN LINEUP
Brown features a youthful roster with freshmen and sophomores accounting for 18 of the Bears' 27 student-athletes. Nine freshmen have made starts for the Bears this season. Of the 18 Brown student-athletes who have played in four or more games this season, nine are freshmen, four are sophomores, two are juniors, and three are seniors.

ADDING ASSISTS
Freshman Maesyn G'Bye (Ladera Ranch, Calif.) leads Brown with five assists this season while junior Abby Carchio (Lakeville, Mass.) has notched four assists. Sophomore Star White (Norfolk, Va.), and freshmen Malina Yago (Culver City, Calif.), Claire Myers (Fairport, N.Y.), and Rebecca Rosen (Port Washington, N.Y.) have each posted two assists. Freshmen backs Lauren Hinton (Middletown, Conn.) and Charlotte DeVaughn (Minneapolis, Minn.) have one assist apiece. In Brown's 2-1 (OT) win over Holy Cross (Sept. 9), junior Andie Gilmore (Walpole, Mass.) and Yago each posted her first assist of the season. In the Bears' 5-0 win over Rhode Island (Sept. 16), G'Bye and Myers each posted two assists, marking the first collegiate points for both players.

G'BYE WINS IVY ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Freshman back Maesyn G'Bye (Ladera Ranch, Calif.) earned Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors on Sept, 24. She posted an assist and 16 corner kicks taken vs. UMass Lowell (Sept. 18) and Dartmouth (Sept. 22). She notched an assist off a corner in the Bears' 3-2 overtime win over UMass Lowell. G'Bye created several dangerous chances off her long throw-ins and corners, serving nine corners vs. UMass Lowell and seven at Dartmouth.

FIRST COLLEGIATE POINTS
In the Bears' 5-0 win over URI (Sept. 16), sophomore Sydney Cummings (Millstone Township, N.J.), freshman Charlotte DeVaughn (Minneapolis, Minn.), and freshman Zoe Maxwell (Irvington, N.Y.) each netted her first career goal. Against the Rams, freshmen Maesyn G'Bye (Ladera Ranch, Calif.) and Claire Myers (Fairport, N.Y.) each posted two assists, marking the first collegiate points for both players.

NO PLACE LIKE HOME
Since renaming its home pitch Stevenson-Pincince Field prior to the final home game of the 2015 season, Brown has posted a 15-6-4 record at home. The Bears went 6-2-0 at home last season and posted a 4-1-3 mark at home during the 2016 campaign. Thus far in 2018, Brown is 4-3-1 at home.

SCOUTING THE BIG RED
Cornell enters Sunday's match with a 1-10-1 overall record and a 0-4-0 mark in Ivy League play. In Ivy play, the Big Red has dropped decisions to Columbia (2-1, 2OT), Penn (2-0), Harvard (2-0), and Yale (1-0). Kaili Gregory leads the team with five points on two goals and one assist. Meghan Kennedy has played the majority of time in goal, posting a 1.70 GAA and .810 save percentage.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Brown leads the series with Cornell, 27-7-4, in 38 all-time meetings. The Bears hold an 8-0-1 record in the last nine match-ups between the two sides. Brown has taken 1-0 decisions in each of the last two years.

LAST FALL
In 2017, Brown registered an 11-5-0 overall record, giving the Bears their most wins since going 13-4-0 in 2000. Brown also set a single-season program record with four overtime victories. The Bears tallied six All-Ivy selections, including First Team All-Ivy honoree Abby Carchio '20 (Lakeville, Mass.).

THE LAST THREE SEASONS
The Bears have finished in the top half of the Ivy League standings for three straight years for the first time since 1992-94. In 2015, Brown went 7-7-2 overall (3-3-1 Ivy) to place third, in 2016 the team finished 9-2-5 overall (4-1-2 Ivy) for second place, and in 2017 the Bears went 11-5-0 (4-3-0) for fourth place.

WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS
Sophomore back Sydney Cummings (Millstone Township, N.J.) and sophomore goalkeeper Maria Guerrero (San Juan, Puerto Rico) competed in World Cup qualifiers in May 2018, taking part in the Caribbean Zone's regional qualification tournament.

Representing Guyana, Cummings earned her first three career international caps and scored her first career international goal in a 6-1 win over Suriname. Representing Puerto Rico, Guerrero garnered her first three career caps at the senior level. She previously served as a reserve goalkeeper for the senior team and competed for Puerto Rico at the U20 and U17 levels. Both Guyana and Puerto finished second in their respective groups, falling one spot shy of advancing to the qualification tournament's final round.

THE CAPTAINS
Senior goalkeeper Christine Etzel (Madison, Conn.) and senior forward/midfielder Celia Story (Bainbridge Island, Wash.) will serve Brown as captains for the 2018 season. Etzel returns for her second season as a captain for the Bears.

YEAR THREE
Head coach Kia McNeill enters her third season as the head women's soccer coach at Brown University in 2018-19, leading the Bears to their highest finish in the league standings since 1994 in her inaugural season in 2016 and guiding the Bears to their most wins since 2000 in her second season in 2017. She returns her top two assistants from the last two seasons in Matt Mones and Raleigh DeRose, while adding Andre Reis as the team's volunteer goalkeeper coach.

COMING SOON
After hosting Cornell, Brown plays at the University of Pennsylvania on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 4:00 p.m. (ESPN+) at Rhodes Field.
