
Men’s Soccer Hosts Providence College Tuesday on ESPN+, NESNplus

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown men's soccer team will host intrastate rival Providence College on Tuesday night at 7 PM (ESPN+/NESNplus) at Stevenson-Pincince Field.

LAST TIME OUT
Brown downed Harvard, 1-0, in double overtime on Saturday to earn its first Ivy League win of the season. Toby Howell scored the game winner in the 103rd minute with assists from Daniel Schiller and Rodrigo D'Andrea. Rookie James Swomley earned his first shutout and made two saves in the win. Brown is now 3-0 in overtime games this season.
SCOUTING PROVIDENCE
Providence (7-4-1, 4-1 Big East) heads into Tuesday night on a four-game winning streak and most recently topped Seton Hall on Friday in double overtime, 1-0. Tiago Mendonca leads the Friars in goals (4), points (8) and shots (26), while Joao Serrano has three assists. Colin Miller heads into the game with a 1.12 goals-against average and a .708 save percentage. As a team, Providence is ranked 36th in the country in shots per game (13.8) and is averaging 1.17 goals per contests.
LAST TIME AGAINST PROVIDENCE
Brown leads the all-time series against Providence, 16-10-8. Providence captured last year's meeting, winning in overtime, 2-1. John Vrablic scored the goal for the Bears.
SWOMLEY NAMED IVY ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Freshman James Swomley was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week on Oct. 15 after helping the Bears to a pair of wins over Holy Cross and Harvard. He allowed one goal over two games, highlighted by his first career shutout in the victory over Harvard. After backstopping the Bears to a midweek win at Holy Cross, Swomley made two saves against the Crimson, including a key stop with six minutes left in regulation en route to a double overtime win.

Brown will continue its four-game homestand on Saturday when the Bears play host to Cornell at 3 PM.
