
Men's Crew Ousted by Yale in Season Opener

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown men's crew earned a pair of victories, but the Bears dropped the varsity race to Yale in the annual battle for the Albert Cup, as the Bears opened the spring season Saturday evening on the Seekonk River.
The two programs faced a light to moderate tailwind, which calmed down during the final race of the day.
In the varsity four race, the first race of the day, the Bears cruised to a winning time of 6:59.9 to finish ahead of the Bulldogs at 7:38.7. The Bears also picked up a victory in the fourth varsity race, winning in a time of 5:59.2 to hold off Yale at 6:06.6.
Yale retained the Albert Cup with a win in the varsity eight at 5:33.9, holding off Bruno in a time of 5:40.5. The Bulldogs also won in the second varsity at 5:32.3 and in the third varsity in a time of 5:34.9.
Brown will return to the water on Saturday when the Bears visit Boston University in a fight for the Michalson Cup.
