SERIES HISTORIES
Brown and Providence College have met 27 times all-time with the Bears holding a 20-7-0 all-time lead in the series. The Friars have won the last three fixtures in the rivalry with the Bears last earning a win in 2011 via a 2-0 decision.
The Bears have met Lafayette on the pitch on two previous occasions with Brown claiming victories in both match-ups. Brown won 1-0 in 2000 and 3-0 in 2005.
GOULD CONTINUES TO PACE THE ATTACK
Senior Carly Gould (Hampton Falls, N.H.) picked up where she left off last season, netting the Bears' first goal of 2016 against Rhode Island. Dating back to last fall, she has scored seven goals in her last eight matches. A two-time All-Ivy selection, Gould has played in 52 games with 49 starts and 12 goals in her career.
THE BACKSTOP
Sophomore goalkeeper Christine Etzel (Madison, Conn.) has posted three straight shutouts to open the 2016 season, pushing her career total to seven clean sheets. She made a career-high nine saves in Brown's 2-0 (2OT) draw at Buffalo. Etzel leads the Ivy League in goals allowed (zero), goals-against average (0.00), save percentage (1.000), and shutouts (three). Last season, she ranked second in the Ivy League in both total saves (75) and save percentage (83.3 percent), finishing the year with four shutouts and a 0.99 goals-against average.
LEHAN ANCHORS BACK, SCORES FIRST GOAL
Junior Maclaine Lehan (Shrewsbury, Mass.) anchors the Bears' defensive unit from her center back position. Having missed just one game for Brown over her career, she has played every minute in all 35 games in which she has appeared. Lehan entered into the offensive equation for the first time in her career, scoring a goal and adding an assist in the team's 3-0 season-opening win vs. URI.
WALDMAN ON THE WING
Junior Mikela Waldman (San Francisco, Calif.) proved dangerous on the attack in Brown's 3-0 win over URI in the opener, playing in several threatening balls from the right wing. She posted two assists against the Rams, tying a career high and pushing her career assist total to seven.
CARCHIO NETS FIRST CAREER GOAL
Freshman midfielder Abby Carchio (Lakeville, Mass.) scored her first collegiate goal, netting the game winner in Brown's 1-0 win over Stony Brook. She scored in the 31st minute off a header via a corner kick from junior Sarah Cobb (North Tustin, Calif.).
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
Providence enters Thursday's tilt with a 3-2-1 overall record and with a three-match winning streak. In their last three outings, the Friars have defeated Maine (1-0), Boston University (2-0), and Colgate (5-0), outscoring their opponents 8-0. Kathryn Hiller and Juliana Pellegrini have both netted a team-high three goals while Kristyn Shea has played every minute in goal, posting a 1.09 GAA.
