SERIES HISTORIES
Brown has faced Buffalo once in program history with the Bears defeating the Bulls, 6-0, on Sept. 3, 2006. The Bears will meet Stony Brook for the first time on Sunday.
GOULD PICKS UP WHAT SHE PUT DOWN
Senior Carly Gould (Hampton Falls, N.H.) picked up where she left off last season, netting the Bears' first goal of 2016 against Rhode Island. Dating back to last fall, she has scored seven goals in her last six games. A two-time All-Ivy selection, Gould has played in 50 games with 47 starts and 12 goals in her career.
LEHAN ANCHORS BACK, SCORES FIRST GOAL
Junior Maclaine Lehan (Shrewsbury, Mass.) anchors the Bears' defensive unit from her center back position. Having missed just one game for Brown over her career, she has played every minute in all 33 games in which she has appeared. Lehan entered into the offensive equation for the first time in her career, scoring a goal and adding an assist in the team's 3-0 season-opening win vs. URI.
THE BACKSTOP
Sophomore goalie Christine Etzel (Madison, Conn.) posted the fifth shutout of her career in Brown's 3-0 win vs. URI. Last season, she ranked second in the Ivy League in both total saves (75) and save percentage (83.3 percent). She started 15 games in 2015, finishing the year with four shutouts and a 0.99 goals-against average.
WALDMAN ON THE WING
Junior Mikela Waldman (San Francisco, Calif.) proved dangerous on the attack in Brown's 3-0 win over URI in the opener, playing in several threatening balls from the right wing. She posted two assists against the Rams, tying a career high and pushing her career assist total to seven.
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
Buffalo enters Thursday's match with a 1-2-1 overall record. The Bulls claim a win over St. Bonaventure (2-0), losses to Hofstra (1-0) and No. 7 West Virginia (2-0), and a draw with Binghamton (1-1). Carissima Cutrona leads the side with three goals while Cassie Betancourt and Laura Dougall have split time in net.
Stony Brook enters the week with a 0-2-1 mark prior to match-ups at Yale (Aug. 31) and at Fairfield (Sept. 2). The Seawolves have fallen to Boston College (3-0) and Bryant (1-0) and tied with Sacred Heart (1-1). Raven Edwards scored the team's one goal in the first three matches. Shannon Robinson has played every minute in net through three games.
THE CAPTAINS
The Bears will look for leadership from their captains – seniors Jaclyn Alois (Andover, Mass.) and Carly Gould (New Hampton, N.H.) and junior Maclaine Lehan (Shrewsbury, Mass.). Alois has appeared in 38 career games while Gould and Lehan both earned All-New England accolades a season ago.
CLASS OF 2020
Brown carries eight newcomers in its Class of 2020 – forward Veronica Alois (Andover, Mass.), midfielder Abby Carchio (Lakeville, Mass.), midfielder/forward Quinn Frankel (Pacific Palisades, Calif.), midfielder/forward Andie Gilmore (Walpole, Mass.), defender/midfielder Abby Kaplan (Potomac, Md.), midfielder Sophia Petros (Miami, Fla.), midfielder/defender China Saxton (Salado, Texas), and midfielder Terri Wilken (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.).
NEW LOOK STAFF
Brown welcomes a new staff to the sidelines this fall as Kia McNeill enters her first season as the Bears' head coach following the retirement of 39-year head coach Phil Pincince after the 2015 season. McNeil's staff also features a new roster of assistant coaches in Matt Mones, Raleigh DeRose, and Eric Bracy.
LAST FALL
The Bears posted a 7-7-2 overall record and a 3-3-1 mark in Ivy League play a season ago, finishing in a tie for third place in the league standings. Brown concluded the season on a three-game Ivy winning streak for the first time since 1992. Four student-athletes earned All-Ivy honors while Charlotte Beach '16 gained a spot in the NEWISA Senior Bowl before signing a professional contract in Sweden this past summer.

After hosting Stony Brook on Sunday, Brown plays in a pair of road matches, competing at crosstown rival Providence College on Thursday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. and at Lafayette College on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 1 p.m.
