#4 Brown Hosts #1 Yale In National and Ivy League Showdown at Stevenson-Pincince Field

Providence, R.I. – With major national and Ivy League playoff implications on the line, the #4 Brown men's lacrosse team will host #1 Yale on Saturday, April 16 at Stevenson-Pincince Field, starting at 1:00 pm. Both teams are vying for the top seed in the Ivy League Playoffs and look to strengthen their case for an NCAA Playoff berth. The game can be viewed on the Ivy League Digital Network and ESPN3.
The Bears: Brown (9-1, 3-0 Ivy) is #4 the Cascade/Maverick Media poll and #5 in the USILA/Nike Coaches national poll following Saturday's 17-6 win over Penn. Dylan Molloy '17 paced the Bears with a career high eight goals against the Quakers, while Jack Kelly '16 made 15 saves in goal. Brown, the nation's top scoring team with 16.9 goals per game, is also tied with Yale for the #1 ranking in the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association poll.
The Bulldogs: Yale (10-0, 4-0 Ivy), ranked #1 in the USILA/Nike Coaches poll and #2 in the Cascade/Maverick Media poll, is the lone undefeated team in the nation. The Bulldogs have posted wins over UMass Lowell (17-7), #4 Maryland (8-5), Bryant (14-4), St. John's (13-8), Fairfield (10-5), Cornell (15-9), Princeton (11-10 ot), Sacred Heart (19-3) and Dartmouth (15-5).
The Brown-Yale Series Record: Brown and Yale have met 60 times, dating back to 1927, with the Bears holding a 35-25 series advantage. Yale has won the last seven meetings, including a 10-6 decision last year in the semifinals of the Ivy League Tournament. Brown's last win over the Bulldogs came in 2009 when the Bears came away with a 13-9 victory.
Molloy Named Ivy League Player of the Week: Junior All-American attackman Dylan Molloy (Setauket, NY) was named the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight week after registering nine goals and eight assists in two games for the fourth-ranked Brown men's lacrosse team. Molloy was at his best in Brown's 17-6 Ivy League win over Penn on Saturday, scoring eight goals on just nine shots to match his career-high, while adding three assists in the Bears' first win over the Quakers since 2012.
Did You Know?: Brown's starting attack of junior Dylan Molloy, senior Kylor Bellistri and senior Henry Blynn have combined for 452 career points – Molloy: 199 points; Bellistri: 129 points; and Blynn: 124 points.
Kelly Leads Nation In Save Percentage: The backstop for Brown's talented defense is senior All-American goalie Jack Kelly (West Islip, NY), who was a unanimous First Team All-Ivy selection. He currently leads the country in save percentage (.630), ninth nationally in saves per game (11.6), and 10th in goals against average (7.84). Kelly provided the spark in Brown's win over Penn with 15 saves, while allowing just four goals. He had 15 saves vs. Bryant, registered 10 saves in the Bears' win over Princeton, and made 10 saves vs. #5 Villanova, allowing just eight goals, while also scoring his first career goal from midfield. Kelly played just three quarters in Brown's win over Holy Cross, making 11 saves, and had eight saves in three quarters of play against Michigan. He registered 11 saves while surrendering just five goals in 50:42 of play against UMass. Kelly played a key role in Brown's win over #19 Stony Brook, making 20 saves, mostly in spectacular fashion, including seven in the first quarter. He made eight saves in the Bears' 20-7 season opening win over Quinnipiac. Last season, Kelly led the Ivy League and ranked 11th nationally in saves per game (11.53), while his save percentage of .554 led the Ivy League and was 14th nationally. A First Team All-New England selection, he was named the NCAA Defensive Player of the Week, the Lacrosse Magazine Player of the Week and the Ivy League Player of the Week after coming up with 21 spectacular saves in Brown's 15-6 win over #10 Cornell.

Kemp – Second Team All-American LSM: A first team All-New England selection, junior LSM Larken Kemp (Greenwich, CT) is equally adept on the offensive and defensive ends of the field, and excels on the wing during face-offs. He currently ranks fifth nationally in caused turnovers (2.10 per game). An offensive threat, Kemp had three assists vs. Penn. Kemp caused four turnovers and picked-up four ground balls vs. Bryant. He picked up six ground balls and caused two turnovers vs. Princeton, and disrupted #14 Harvard for five turnovers, while picking up seven ground balls in Brown's 11-8 win over the Crimson. Kemp picked up four ground balls, caused three turnovers and handed out an assist vs. Holy Cross, and had an assist and three caused turnovers vs. Michigan. He had another strong performance against UMass with an assist, four caused turnovers and six ground balls. Kemp had two assists and four ground balls vs. #19 Stony Brook. He scored a goal and had two assists, while picking up three ground balls vs. Quinnipiac. Last year, the Second Team USILA All-American ranked second in the Ivies and fourth in the nation with 2.06 caused turnovers per game, and ranked 31st nationally in ground balls (4.81 per game). A two-time Ivy League Player of the Week, Kemp was heralded as the National Defensive Player of the Week by the Baltimore Sun following Brown wins over Marist and #9 Princeton.
Tulett 14th Nationally In Ground Balls: Anchoring the Bears' close defense is junior Alec Tulett (Toronto, Ontario), a two-year starter for the Bears, who currently ranks 14th in the nation in ground balls (6.0). Tulett picked up four ground balls and caused two turnovers vs. Penn. He had two assists, two ground balls and two caused turnovers vs. Bryant. A defenseman, Tulett excelled on the offensive side of the ball against Princeton, scoring two goals, while also picking up seven ground balls against the Tigers. He had four ground balls in Brown's 19-8 win over #5 Villanova. Tulett picked up seven ground balls and caused two turnovers in the Bears' 11-8 win over #14 Harvard, and helped Brown win 26-of-30 face-offs vs. Holy Cross by picking up a career-high 11 ground balls. Last year, Tulett led the Bears and ranked 24th nationally with 83 ground balls. Sophomore JJ Ntshaykolo (San Francisco, CA) and senior James Lawrence (Minneapolis, MN) round out the Bears' starting defense.
Bellistri – Second Nationally In Goals: Senior attackman Kylor Bellistri (Potomac, MD), who was recently named to the Tewaarton Award Watch List, is another marksman for the Bears' attack, who ranks second nationally in goals with 3.30 per game, and ranks fifth nationally with 4.90 points per game. He netted three goals and distributed three assists in Brown's win over Penn. Bellistri had two goals and two assists vs. Bryant. He scored a goal and handed out four assists in the Bears' 19-8 win over Princeton. Bellistri paced the Bears with four goals and an assist in Brown's 19-8 victory over #5 Villanova. He scored three goals and added an assist in Brown's 11-8 win over #14 Harvard. Bellistri was named the Ivy League Player of the Week and the USILA/Lids Team Sports Division I Offensive Player of the Week after posting 13 goals and three assists in Brown wins over Holy Cross and Michigan. Bellistri turned in a strong performance against Holy Cross by scoring a career-high seven goals, while adding three assists for 10 points. He followed the Holy Cross game with a six-goal performance against Michigan. Bellistri found the back of the net for three goals and handed out an assist against #19 Stony Brook, and had three goals and an assist at Quinnipiac. He also had a goal and an assist vs. UMass. Bellistri scored 35 goals a year ago, scoring four goals against Michigan and Manhattan.

Molloy – Leads Nation In Goals, Assists and Points: Junior All-American attackman Dylan Molloy (Setauket, NY), the Ivy League and New England Player of the Year, leads the nation in three major categories: Goals (3.4 per game), assists (3.4 per game) and points (6.80 per game). Molloy has registered at least one point in Brown's last 29 games, a point streak that dates back to April 19, 2014. He was named the Ivy League Player of the Week for the third time this year after stepping up in a big way against Penn with eight goals to tie his career high, while adding three assists for 11 points, the seventh most points in Ivy Lacrosse history. Molloy had a goal and five assists vs. Bryant. He was named the Ivy League and USILA/Lids Team Sports National Player of the Week after scoring for six goals and five assists in the Bears' 19-8 win over Princeton, and netting three goals and handing out two assists in Brown's 19-8 win over #5 Villanova. Molloy scored four goals and dished out two assists in the Bears' win over Michigan. He distributed a career-high eight assists vs. Holy Cross, while scoring one goal. Molloy scored his 100th career goal against UMass, finishing the game with two goals and two assists. Molloy is the 12th player in Brown history to score 100 or more goals and ranks fifth on Brown's all-time scoring list with 199 career points. He picked up where he left off a year ago by being named the Ivy League Player of the Week after registering nine points (3 goals, 6 assists) in Brown's win over #19 Stony Brook. Molloy opened the season by scoring five goals at Quinnipiac. He posted a record-setting season for the Bears in 2015, leading the nation in scoring with 3.65 goals per game and netting a school-record 62 goals. A First Team All-Ivy and All-New England selection, the All-American added 30 assists to finish with 92 points to lead the Ivy League and rank third nationally with 5.41 points per game. His 13 points vs. Michigan in 2015 tied the Ivy League record.

Blynn – 16th Nationally In Goals Scored: Bears' senior attackman Henry Blynn (Villanova, PA) ranks 16th nationally and fourth in the Ivy League with 2.7 goals per game, and ranks 6th in the league in points (3.70 per game). Blynn recorded a hat-trick vs. Penn after scoring two goals vs. Bryant. He scored three goals and handed out one assist in Brown's win over Princeton, and stepped up in the Bears' victory over #5 Villanova with three goals and two assists. Blynn had two goals and an assist vs. #14 Harvard. Brown's third leading scorer with 22 goals, Blynn tossed in four goals, while adding two assists vs. Holy Cross. He netted two goals and handed out two assists vs. Michigan, and scored three goals and handed out an assist vs. UMass. Blynn opened the 2016 season with two goals against Quinnipiac, and registered a hat-trick against #19 Stony Brook with three goals. Last year, Blynn was eighth in the Ivy League with 2.24 goals per game and netted a career-high six goals against Providence. He returned to the Brown lineup last year after missing the entire 2014 season due to injury and responded in 2015 with 38 goals and 14 assists.

Molloy/Kemp/Bellistri Named Tewaarton Award Candidates: The Tewaaraton Foundation has announced the 2016 Tewaaraton Award men's and women's watch lists that include the top players across all three divisions of NCAA lacrosse and highlight the early contenders for the 2016 Tewaaraton Award, presented by Under Armour. Brown junior All-Americans Dylan Molloy (Setauket, NY) and Larken Kemp (Greenwich, CT) and senior attackman Kylor Bellistri (Potomac, MD) are among the men's candidates.
Gural Third Nationally In Face-Off Pct.: Brown features one of the top face-off specialists in the country with the return of senior First Team All-New England selection Will Gural (Haverford, PA). Gural currently ranks third in the nation in face-off percentage, winning 116-of-170 (.682) face-offs. He won 13-of-20 face-offs with eight ground balls vs. Princeton and captured 10-of-17 face-offs and picked up seven ground balls vs. #5 Villanova. Gural "pitched" a perfect game against Holy Cross, winning 17-of-17 face-offs to help ignite Brown's offense. He opened the season by winning 11-of-14 face-offs vs. Quinnipiac, and came back by winning 20-of-30 face-off against #19 Stony Brook. Against UMass, Gural won 12-of-15 face-offs. Last year, Gural captured 233-of-391 face-offs (.596), 12th best in the nation. Gural is also an offensive threat, with six goals last season. He won 16-of-20 face-offs in Brown's Ivy League Playoff game vs. Yale, and registered a 12-9 advantage vs. Princeton. His 5.17 ground balls per game ranked 25th nationally. He also turned in an outstanding performance vs. Denver in the NCAA Playoffs, winning 15-of-25 face-offs against the nation's #1 face-off man, Trevor Baptiste.
NCAA Quarterfinals At Brown Stadium: Brown University is hosting the NCAA Quarterfinals on Saturday, May 21 with a double header at Brown Stadium. Game times have been set for 12 noon and 2:30 pm with both games being broadcast on ESPNU. Caputo Nears 100 Career Points: Brown's prolific offense also features a high-scoring midfield, led by senior Brendan Caputo (Westbury, NY), who has registered 99 career points (61 goals, 38 assists) for the Bears. Caputo has 10 goals and seven assists for the season. He led the Bears' midfield with two goals and two assists in Brown's 19-8 win over Princeton, and posted a big game vs. #19 Stony Brook with three goals and two assists. Caputo tallied 26 goals and added 12 assists last year. He scored three goals vs. Hartford, Yale and Princeton.
Tills Finds The Back of the Net: Senior middy Bailey Tills (Denver, CO) is Brown's top scorer from the midfield with 12 goals and 11 assists for 23 points. Tills had four points in Brown's win over #5 Villanova with two goals and two assists. He matched his career scoring high four goals on four shots vs. UMass. He then came back with two goals vs. Holy Cross. Tills also had a goal and four assists vs. Michigan. He scored a goal and added an assist vs. #14 Harvard.
Head Coach Lars Tiffany: Lars Tiffany '90, a two-time Brown lacrosse captain, returned to his alma mater as head men's lacrosse coach in the summer of 2006, and has returned the program to national prominence with Ivy League titles in 2008, 2010 and 2015, while earning NCAA Championship berths in 2009 and 2015. Tiffany, who comes into the 2016 season with a career record of 97-66 in 11 career seasons as a head coach, was named New England Coach of the Year in 2008, 2009 and 2015 while leading his team to the number one ranking in New England in 2008 and 2009. Tiffany occupies the Rothman Head Coaching Chair for Men's Lacrosse, an endowed position.
Lighting Up The Scoreboard: The Bears return 210 of the 228 goals scored (92-percent) in 2015, led by junior All-American Dylan Molloy, who led the nation in scoring with a school-record 62 goals. Brown's starting attack of Molloy, senior Henry Blynn (38 goals) and senior Kylor Bellistri (35 goals) returns intact with 135 goals.
Bear Facts: Brown's defense held #5 Villanova, the nation's second highest scoring team, to just eight goals, nearly eight goals under its season average…The Bears are seventh nationally in face-off percentage, winning 177-of-281 face-offs (.631), and lead the nation with 11.8 assists per game… Freshman Michael Panepinto (Needham, MA), playing in the defensive midfield, scored his first career goals in the Bears' win over UMass…Sophomore Ted Ottens (Wilton, CT) has also excelled in the face-off x, capturing 53-of-98 face-offs (.541)…Freshman middy Carson Song (Charlotte, NC) scored his first career goal and added four assists vs. Michigan. He also had a goal and an assist vs. #5 Villanova, two assists vs. #14 Harvard and goals vs. Princeton and Penn…Senior Matt Graham (Amityville, NY) and sophomore Stephen Hudak (Rydal, PA) each scored two goals in the Bears' 11-8 win over #14 Harvard. Graham also netted two goals in the Bears' win over Princeton, and had a goal and an assist vs. Penn.
