
Men's Tennis Falls to No. 53 St. John's, 4-1

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown men's tennis team was defeated by No. 53 St. John's, 4-1, on Sunday. Freshman Mladen Mitak (Zagreb, Croatia) recorded the lone win for Brown on the day.
The Red Storm won the doubles point with wins in the first and third spots. Sophomore Jack Haworth (Corby, England) and freshman Charles Tan (Austin, Texas) took second doubles with a score of 6-2.
Mitak's win came in second singles, where he won in two sets, 6-4, 6-3. Sophomore Peter Tarwid's (Lake Forest, Ill.) first singles match went to three sets after he won the first set, 6-4, but his opponent went on to win the match, 6-3, 6-0. Haworth also went to three sets, this time in third singles, where hw won the first set, 6-4, fell in the second, 6-3, and was just edged in the third set, 7-5.
The Bears will next host No. 37 Old Dominion on Saturday, March 26 for a 10:30 a.m.
