
Women's Soccer's Gould Gains NSCAA Scholar All-America Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University women's soccer senior midfielder Carly Gould has earned a spot on the NSCAA Senior College Women's Scholar All-America Division I Third Team, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced on Thursday.

A native of Hampton Falls, N.H., Gould has achieved an array of honors in her final collegiate season including unanimous First Team All-Ivy accolades, a spot in the NEWISA Senior Bowl, First Team NSCAA All-Mid-Atlantic Region laurels, and Second Team NEWISA All-New England plaudits. As part of the NSCAA's Scholar All-America announcement, Gould also garnered NSCAA Scholar All-East Region First Team honors.
In order to gain NSCAA Scholar All-America honors, student-athletes must have maintained a 3.30 cumulative grade point average over the course of their careers, reached junior academic standing or above, and started more than 50 percent of their teams' games.
Gould finished her career tied for 17th all-time at Brown with 15 goals and tied for 21st in the Bears' career record book with 36 points on 15 goals and six assists.
This past season Gould led Brown in points (12), goals (four), assists (four), shots (38), shots on goal (18), and game-winning goals (three). A three-time All-Ivy selection, she finished her career with 64 games played, 60 games started, six game-winning goals, 123 shots, and 52 shots on goal.
In 2016, Brown finished second in the Ivy League standings, marking its highest finish in the league table since winning the conference title in 1994. The Bears earned points in 14 of their 16 matches on the season and finished in the top half of the league standings in back-to-back years for the first time since 1993-94. Brown closed the year with its highest winning percentages both overall (.719) and in conference play (.714) since the year 2000.
