Men's Crew Takes Second at Head of the Housatonic

DERBY, Conn. – Brown men's crew finished second overall in the Collegiate Men's Eight race at the Head of the Housatonic on Saturday as the Bears opened the fall season on the Housatonic River.
Brown's top boat finished runner-up in a time of 12:33.2, finishing ahead of Harvard's B boat (12:34.5) and A boat (12:35.3), while Yale took first overall at 12:17.8.
Brown's B boat claimed seventh place in a time of 12:56.4, just two spots ahead of the team's C boat, which crossed at 13:06.7. The Brown D and E boats finished in 15th and 22nd place, respectively, in times of 13:19.4 and 14:07.6.
Boats from Columbia, Marist and Fairfield were also represented in the 25-entry race.
The Bears placed sixth overall at the IRA National Championship last season, reaching the national grand finals for the eighth-straight year.
Next up, the Bears will continue fall racing on Oct. 22-23 at the Head of the Charles Regatta.
