PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Sophomore Rob Henry (Cranston, R.I.) of the Brown baseball team was named Second Team All-Ivy, and both junior Jake Levine (Newton, Mass.) and senior Chris Smith (Colleyville, Texas) earned Honorable Mention All-Ivy honors, announced Thursday in a vote by the league's eight head coaches.
Henry put together a breakout season for the Bears, starting all 39 games in centerfield out of the leadoff spot to earn All-Ivy honors for the first time in his career. He led the league with 58 hits and ranked second overall with a .363 batting average and 17 doubles. Henry paced the Bears in slugging percentage (.531), on-base percentage (.430), runs (30), triples (2), total bases (85), walks (18) and stolen bases (7), and also added 21 RBI and two home runs. He posted a pair of 13-game hitting streaks along with a 30-game on-base streak during the season. Additionally, he had 17 multiple-hit games and recorded at least one hit in all but four games.
Levine ranked second on the team with a .331 batting average in 37 games played as the team's primary left fielder. He hit a team-best .343 in conference play and totaled 42 hits, 22 runs, five doubles and four home runs with 19 RBI during the season. Levine also drew 14 walks, ranked second on the team with a .404 on-base percentage and posted 11 multiple-hit games. Most recently, Levine was named a Capital One Academic All-District First Team selection for his combined performance athletically and in the classroom.
Smith earned All-Ivy accolades after an impressive conference slate as the team's top relief pitcher. The Texas native posted a 1.35 earned run average during conference games out of the bullpen, leading all Brown relief pitchers with 13.1 innings pitched in five appearances. He added ten strikeouts and limited opposing hitters to a .196 batting average during league play.
