STREAKBUSTERS
In their 2-1 season-opening win at St. John's on Sept. 5, the Bears snapped the Red Storm's 15-game home unbeaten streak dating back to 2012.
YANT TIED FOR LEAGUE LEAD IN SAVES
Senior goalkeeper Malloy Yant (Fenton, Mo.) recorded her first two collegiate wins in the opening two contests this season while being tied for first overall in the Ivy League with 15 saves.
THE SERIES HISTORY – UMASS
Thursday will mark the 19th meeting between the Bears and Minutewomen, with UMass holding an 11-6-1 edge in the all-time series. Brown has claimed the last two meetings in 2012 and 2013, including a 2-1 triumph at Rudd Field last year.
SCOUTING THE MINUTEWOMEN
UMass enters Thursday contest after a 0-1-1 week that included a scoreless draw with Northeastern on Sept. 11 and a 5-0 defeat at the hands of UConn last Sunday. Sophomore Megan Burke paces the UMass attack with three goals while Jackie Bruno checks in with two strikes this season for the Minutewomen. Redshirt sophomore Danielle Kriscenski has gotten the starting nod between the pipes in 7-of-8 games this season, recording a .686 save percentage.
THE SERIES HISTORY – UCONN
The Bears and Huskies will meet for the 28th time on Sunday, but the first time since a 5-1 UConn win on Sept. 14, 2007. The Huskies lead the all-time series versus Brown by a 19-6-2 edge as Brown seeks its first victory in the series since 1990.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
At 6-1-1, the Huskies find themselves just outside of the latest NSCAA poll, receiving 32 votes after convincing wins over St. John's and UMass by a combined score of 9-1. In his 34th season at the helm, Head Coach Len Tsantiris' squad has outscored its opponents by a 21-7 margin, suffering its lone defeat versus Penn State on Aug. 28. The Huskies will host No. 5 Florida State on Thursday prior to their matchup against the Bears on Sunday. Sophomore Rachel Hill is the one to watch for UConn as she ranks second in the nation with nine goals, three behind Hannah Short of East Tennessee State.
