Providence, Rhode Island - Brown senior center Matt Mullery
(Millstone, New Jersey) has been selected to the ESPN The Magazine
Academic All-District men's basketball team. His name will now be
placed on the national ballot for Academic All-America voting.
A first team All-Ivy selection last season, Mullery is Brown's
leader in scoring (14.9), rebounding (6.0), assists (61) and
blocked shots (31). Mullery is one of Brown's Top 25 Career
Scorers with 977 career points, 23rd best in Brown basketball
history. He looks to become the 23rd player in Brown basketball
history to score 1,000 or more points in a career.
Mullery recently moved into 10th place in Ivy League career
blocked shots, now with 146, and is Brown's all-time leader
in blocks.
Mullery, a candidate for the Lowe's Senior Class Award, has
posted a 3.31 grade point average as a Modern American history
concentrator. He also tutors other Brown students in math and
calculus. He is currently doing an independent study on
“Green,” looking at environmentally sustainable
companies. The National Association of Basketball Coaches named
Mullery an Honors Court selection in 2009 for excellence in the
classroom.
