Austin Miller, a former NCAA qualifier and EIWA placer at Bucknell and a student assistant coach at Lock Haven, enters his fourth season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Brown University wrestling program in 2021-22.
During the 2019-20 season, Miller helped developed a young Bears’ team over the course of the season with Brown winning three of its last four dual meets. Ricky Cabanillas ’23 led the Bears with a seventh-place finish at the EIWA Championships and tallied 25 wins, the most for a Brown freshman since 2012. Brown’s 2020-21 competitive season was canceled due to COVID-19.
In 2018-19, Miller helped lead a program that posted four NCAA qualifiers, tallied six EIWA placers in back-to-back years for the first time since 2000, placed eighth as a team at the EIWA Championships – marking the program’s highest finish at the conference tournament since 2004 – and totaled five All-Ivy selections for the first time since 2008.
Miller has competed as a resident athlete at both the New England Regional Training Center and the Buffalo Valley Regional Training Center. He served as a student assistant coach at Lock Haven University from 2016-18.
As a collegiate student-athlete, Miller wrestled at Oklahoma State from 2013-16 and Bucknell University from 2011-13. With the Bison, he qualified for the 2012 NCAA Championships after placing third at the 2012 EIWA Championships.
A native of Lancaster, Pa., he earned two state medals while at Hempfield High School.
