Kim Goss joined Brown as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2021-22 season, designing and supervising sport-specific workouts for sprinters, hurdlers, and jumpers. He also co-authors track and field articles for national coaching publications with Sprints and Hurdles Coach Gabriel Mvumvure.

Goss was the assistant strength coach for the U.S. Air Force Academy for seven years, designing the workouts for the Falcon Football Team and 16 other sports. As a weightlifting coach, his athletes collectively broke 18 American records and competed in the Junior and Senior World Weightlifting Championships. He has coached Olympians in four sports.

Goss has spent over three decades as a magazine and book editor, writing over 2,500 articles for 50+ magazines and editing 30 books. He is a former senior editor at Runner’s World Publications, senior editor at Dayton Writer’s Group, and was the editor-in-chief of Bigger Faster Stronger magazine.

After serving in the U.S. Air Force as an administrative specialist, Goss attended California State University, East Bay. He served as the sports editor and earned a BA degree in mass communications (public relations minor) in 1985. In 2009, he earned a master’s degree in human movement (corrective exercise minor) from A.T. Still University, Arizona. He has been certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association since 1987.

Goss was a bronze medalist in the 1982 Collegiate Weightlifting Championships and a state record holder in South Carolina. His coach was Jim Schmitz, a former head coach for the US Olympic Team.
