
Jackson, Riley Set School Records as Track and Field Completes Day One of Outdoor Heps

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown track and field teams wrapped up day one of the Ivy League Outdoor Heps at Princeton University on Saturday. The meet witnessed two new school records and three other top-10 school marks, along with 11 qualifying times for Sunday's finals.
After one day, Brown's men stand in fifth place with 14 points and the women stand in seventh.
In the 100m hurdles, junior Elle Riley broke the school record with the time of 13.56, placing second in the event to qualify for tomorrow's final, and beating her previous record she set last year by .18 seconds. In the 200m dash, junior Alyssa Jackson broke the school record she previously set on April 19 by .11 seconds. Her third place time of 23.60 qualified her for tomorrow's final. Along with Jackson, freshman Anya Anderson placed seventh with a time of 23.92, qualifying her for tomorrow's final and setting the fourth fastest 200m time in school history, beating her previous record by .04 seconds. Sophomore Trevor Wilder placed fifth in the 400m, qualified for the finals, and ran the second fastest time in school history at 46.61. Lastly, senior Solomon Miller ran a 10.67 in the 100m dash and tied his PR that sits 10th in school history.Â
WOMEN
Jackson and Anderson also competed in the 100m dash. Jackson qualified for the finals with a fifth place finish (11.75). Anderson placed 11th out of 18 sprinters with a time of 12.03. Freshman Sydney Ruckett placed third in the 400m with a time of 53.86 and qualified for the finals. Riley finished first in the 400m hurdles with a time of 58.33, junior Maddelynn Brooks placed seventh with a time of 1:00.64, and sophomore Kareema McKenzie finished ninth with a time of 1:01.22. All qualified for tomorrow's final.Â
Junior Katrina Sortland finished 11th out of 23 runners in the 800m with a time of 2:10.33. Seniors Julia Schriefer and Emily Mrakovcic competed in the 1500m. Out of 25 runners, Schriefer finished sixth with a time of 4:24.85 and qualified for the finals, while Mrakovcic finished 13th with a time of 4:28.21. Currently, in the Heptathlon, sophomore Maria Camposano sits in seventh place with 2,780 points.Â
In the hammer throw, senior Zoe Carter-Konate placed seventh out of 18 throwers with a top distance of 52.42m and junior Jillian Leahy finished ninth with a 51.93m throw. Sophomore Lydia Kentis placed 10th in the discus throw with a distance of 44.98m. Senior Rachel Bibiu placed 12th in the long jump with a 5.60m jump.Â
MEN
In the 100m dash, senior Elias Archie placed eighth and qualified for tomorrow's final with a time of 10.59. Wilder also competed in the 200m dash and placed 10th with a time of 21.41. In the 800m, junior Aaron Caveney placed 10th out of 30 runners with a time of 1:51.17 and sophomore Cameron Walter placed 14th with a time of 1:51.91. Freshman Duncan Frisbie-Smith placed 19th in the 1500m with a time of 3:54.26. In the decathlon, sophomore Link Lignell sits in fourth place through the first day with 3,442 points and junior Gabriel Liem Thai sits in sixth place with 3,146 points.
Junior Ethan Wordell finished fourth in the hammer throw with a distance of 61.87m. Freshman Sebastian Hess placed ninth in the discus throw with a distance of 48.58m. In the long jump, senior Mubaraq Aderogba finished sixth (7.09m), freshman Jerald Evangelista finished seventh (6.98m) and senior Frank Monahan-Morang finished eighth (6.91m).Â
The Bears will conclude the outdoor Heps tomorrow at Princeton, with a start time of 9 am.Â
