Born on August 19, 1993 in New York City to Jennie Freiman and Stuart Mendel. He has one sister, Charis. Ross was captain of the Choate varsity squash team, a member of the varsity ultimate Frisbee team, ran cross country and coxed for the crew team. He served on the Alumni Association Executive Committee and the Young Alumni Task Force. He was a prefect and Vice-President of the Debate team. He also co-founded RhodySquash while at Choate.
