Men's Squash Completes Play at the CSA Hoehn Cup

New Haven, CT - The Brown men's squash team closed out its 2020 season at the College Squash Association Hoehn Cup with a win over George Washington, 5-4, and losses to Columbia, 8-1, and Franklin & Marshall, 7-2.

Bears' head coach Stuart leGassick was ecstatic with his squad's win over George Washington. "Awesome college match!", said leGassick. "Harrison Boyer '20 at # 6 saved two match balls in the 4th game to win the fifth. Ahmed Amin '23 pulled back from 1-2 down to win in five. The team's fitness and drive was a big factor."

leGassick summed up the final loss to Franklin & Marshall: "A hard-fought match with the stronger team winning ultimately. Our team left everything on the courts in this last match of the season."

Senior Blake Gilbert-Bono earned Brown's lone win against Columbia, earning a 3-0 decision at number eight.

In the Bears win over George Washington, junior Andrew Wei set the pace with a 3-1 win at number three. Both Amin and Boyer rallied from a 2-1 deficit with Amin winning, 11-6,4-11,6-11,11-8,11-5, and Boyer taking a 6-11,11-5,10-12,15-13,11-4 decision. Senior Nick Pitaro cruised to a 3-1 win at number seven, while freshman Raghav Pemmireddy came through at nine with a 3-0 victory.

Wei and Boyer also earned wins against Franklin & Marshall, with Wei winning, 3-0, and Boyer taking a 3-2 victory after trailing 2-1.
