PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Junior Ayla Sahin scored a pair of goals, and senior Joy Okonye and junior Kyra Treanor each found the back of the net once as Brown University women's soccer beat the University of Massachusetts, 4-1, on Thursday night at Stevenson-Pincince Field.

Improving to 3-0-0 at home in the 2026 season, the Bears (3-2-0) netted two goals in each of the first and second halves before the Minutewomen (3-1-0) scored in the contest's waning moments.

"You can tell the potential for our team, especially when we are firing on all cylinders," Kia McNeill, the Messing Family Head Coach for Brown Varsity Women's Soccer, said. "We had a lot of chances in front of goal, and for the most part I thought we were solid defensively. All in all, if we can put together a 90-minute performance and continue to build off of today, I think we are going to be a really dangerous team going forward."

Sahin tallied her first career brace in netting her first two goals of the season and the eighth and ninth goals of her career, including her fourth career game-winning goal. Okonye totaled three points behind a goal and an assist, increasing her career marks to nine career goals and 17 career assists. Treanor notched her second goal of the season and the third goal of her career.

Seniors Corine Gregory and Audrey Lam and freshmen Maja Cenanovic, Georgia Steinbach, and Taylor Green each added one assist apiece.

"We were really talking about executing the game plan," Sahin said. "This was a better representation of how Brown Women's Soccer plays. We talk about our DNA. Over the past couple of games, we may have lost, but I think we're back. This game was a good showcase of our whole team and our depth."

As a team, Brown held advantages in shots (29-6), shots on goal (13-2), and corner kicks (11-3). The Bears earned double-figure corners for the second time this season.

Sophomore goalkeeper Addison Etter made one save in the win, playing the entire contest.

Among the Bears' field players, juniors Brooke Birtwistle and Chesney Robinson each played the full 90 minutes.

The Bears opened the game's scoring in the 27^th minute behind Okonye's goal. After Lam carried the ball into the attacking third, she sent a pass forward to Gregory, who slid a centering ball to a waiting Okonye on the edge of the six-yard box. Okonye then sent a one-timed shot past the keeper.

Sahin's first goal of the match gave the hosts a 2-0 lead in the 37^th minute. After Steinbach won a turnover in the middle of the pitch and worked a give-and-go with Cenanonvic, she played a ball out to the right to Sahin who carried the ball to the edge of the goal area and slotted a shot into the goal.

Brown moved ahead 3-0 in the 61^st minute as Treanor gathered a corner kick from Okonye at the top of the box and drove a shot just below the crossbar and into the goal.

Sahin netted her second goal of the game in the 73^rd minute. After Sahin stole the ball and sent a pass to Green, Green fired a shot on target allowing Sahin to capitalize on the ensuing rebound.

UMass' Martina Bravo closed the scoring in the 89^th minute, finding the back of the net following a turnover.

Next, Brown hosts No. 13 UCF on Sunday, Sept. 6 at noon (ESPN+) at Stevenson-Pincince Field for the team's Orientation Game and White Out.
