Sliwkowski’s Game-Winning Goal Lifts Women’s Lacrosse Past Columbia, 13-12

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Ruby Sliwkowski's game-winning goal with six seconds remaining lifted the Brown women's lacrosse team (6-5, 2-2 Ivy) past Columbia (6-5, 0-4 Ivy), 13-12, on Saturday afternoon.
Sliwkowski matched a career-high with four goals, her four goals paced the Bears offense for a second-straight game. The Kennebunkport, Maine native has scored seven goals in the last two outings.
Kiki Tormey followed behind Sliwkowski with a hat trick, also matching a career-high. Tessie Batchelder netted a pair of goals, with Riley Peterson, Annie Dignazio, Caroline Nozzolillo, and Marley Wright all contributing to Brown's scoring with a goal each.
Mackenzie Farley posted a game-high six draw controls and three assists on Saturday afternoon.
Brown held the advantage in draw controls, winning 17 to Columbia's 10.
It was a tight first quarter with both teams putting up three goals each. Brown had three different goal-scorers in the first, with two goals coming from free position opportunities. Columbia netted four goals to Brown's two ahead of the break. The Lions led 7-5 as the first half came to a close.
The Bears came out of the break hot, outscoring Columbia 6-2 in the third quarter. They capitalized on woman-up opportunities, scoring three of their goals during the advantage.
Sliwkowski earned a hat trick eight minutes into the third, with Tormey's coming a minute later. The Lions came back and scored three goals in the fourth quarter tying the game at 12, with seven minutes left to play.
Sliwkowski's fourth goal of the game with six seconds remaining was the difference, as the Bears held on for the 13-12 lead.
Brown will return home to host Dartmouth on Saturday, April 11. The opening draw is set for 3:30 p.m. at Stevenson-Pincince Field. Following the conclusion of the game, Brown will honor its nine-member senior class, fans can purchase tickets here.
