2/28/2026 2:57:00 PM | Men's Lacrosse
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Senior attacker Jeremy Hopsicker tied a career-high with six goals as the Brown men's lacrosse team cruised to a 17-6 victory over cross-state rival Bryant (1-3) at Stevenson-Pincince Field on Saturday afternoon. The win secures the 2026 Ocean State Cup for the Bears, who improved to 3-1 on the season.
Brown has won the Ocean State Cup nine times since its inception (2011), the most in the state.
The Bears asserted their dominance early, erupting for five goals in the first quarter and matching that production in the second to take a commanding 10-4 lead into halftime. Hopsicker was the catalyst for the offensive surge, scoring at least one goal in every frame. Marcus Wertheim collected a hat trick in the first half and finished with three goals and an assist. Brady O'Kane recorded six goals and six assists, and Ben Scandone added two assists to pace the Bears.
In the cage, Connor Foley earned the win for Brown, making 12 saves while allowing just five goals in over 52 minutes of action. Bryant's James Carr finished with 13 saves in a losing effort as he faced a relentless 47 shots from the Brown offense.
The Bulldogs managed to find the back of the net via Dawson Rielly and Owen West, who each scored twice, but Bryant struggled to maintain possession, failing on nine clear attempts throughout the afternoon.
