
Track and Field Caps Indoor Regular Season with Brown Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown track and field programs hosted their last regular season meet of the indoor season with the Brown Invitational on Saturday at the Olney-Margolies Athletic Center (OMAC).
Both teams took home victories at the eight-team meet, with the men earning 111 points and the women 159.
WOMEN
Three Bears qualified for the 60m finals. Sophomore Mackenzie Fulgham placed second in both the prelims and finals, finishing in 7.94 and 7.88 seconds, respectively. Junior Anna Pollak placed third in the prelims and fourth in the finals, with times of 7.95 and 7.92, respectively. Lastly, freshman Sameera Monks finished fifth in the prelims and third in the finals, with times of 8.04 and 7.91.
In the mile, freshman Kata Clark led the Bears, placing first out of eight runners with a time of 5:15.45. Senior Sara Perez placed second with a time of 5:17.99 and junior Scarlet Stimson placed third with a time of 5:18.57. Freshman Megan Jasinski placed first in the 500m with a time of 1:19.56. Junior Julia Soderbery placed first in the 1000m with a time of 3:02.61.
Brown swept the podium in the long jump. Sophomore Naa Adua Annan placed first out of 11 jumpers with a leap of 5.60m. Junior Danielle Meribe placed second with a 5.46m jump and senior Rachel Bibiu placed third at 5.44m. Freshman Clara Fan placed first in the triple jump with a mark of 11.45m and senior Nene Mokonchu placed first in the high jump at 1.66m. Senior Zoe Carter-Konate placed third out of 21 throwers in the weight throw, tossing 17.74m and sophomore Giana DeCesare placed fifth at 16.20m.
MEN
Three Bears qualified for the 60m finals. After placing second at 6.94 seconds in the prelims, senior Elias Archie placed first in the finals with a 6.84-second dash. Senior Solomon Miller placed first in the prelims with a time of 6.93 and placed second in the finals with a time of 6.87. Sophomore Andreas Nikolopoulos placed fifth in the prelims with a time of 7.20 and finished fourth in the finals with a time of 7.08.
Junior Matt Wing was the winner of the 1000m, finishing with a time of 2:30.52. Freshman teammate Dermot Maloney followed, finishing second with a time of 2:30.82. Sophomore Luke Bodden placed first in the 3000m with a time of 8:40.08 and senior Jason Markopoulos finished second with a time of 8:44.05.
Junior Keith Daigneau won the weight throw with a 19.30m toss and junior Ethan Wordell finished fourth with a 17.05m throw. Freshman Sean Wilton won the shot put with a 16.16m throw. Junior Karon Johnson placed third out of 17 with a 15.43m throw and freshman Argenis Luciano placed fourth with a throw of 15.30m. Senior Frank Monahan-Morang won the long jump with a 6.91m jump.
Brown will now turn its attention to the Ivy League Indoor Heps next Saturday and Sunday at The Armory in New York City.
