
Gymnastics Set for Ivy Classic on Sunday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown gymnastics team is set to compete for a championship on Sunday when it heads to Yale's Lee Amphitheater for the Ivy Classic against Yale, Cornell and Penn. Start time is set for 1 p.m. on ESPN+.
Brown enters the meet as the league's No. 3 seed (NQS-193.556), ahead of Cornell (192.481), and behind first place Penn (195.094) and second place Yale (194.319). However, Brown has beaten and tied Yale in their two matchups so far this season, and is yet to square off against Penn or Cornell.

IVY CLASSIC HISTORY
The Bears have won five Ivy championships in their history, the most recent of which came the last time Brown hosted the event in 2023. The previous titles came in 1990, 2013, 2014 and 2016.
BIG BOUNCEBACK
After posting its two lowest scores of the season in the prior two meets, Brown has rebounded with back-to-back meets with scores that topped 194, including a season-high of 194.550 on February 8 at Springfield, which included a season-high on beam of 48.875.
The Bears swept the podium on all four events at Springfield.
REHNING IN THE APPLAUSE
Freshman Rehna Saalinger made her collegiate debut on floor last week and delivered a 9.800, tying four fourth overall at the Temple Quad Meet. She put together her floor routine for the first time in the week leading up to the meet and delivered for Brown out of the anchor position to lead the team with her 9.800.
SENIOR LEADERSHIP
Senior Sophia Dewar has been a consistent performer all season for Brown. On February 8 at Springfield, she won on floor by tying her career-high at 9.875, then set a new career-high of 9.850 to win on vault last weekend at Temple, which ties for the fifth best vault score in program history.
Dewar also led the Bears in all three of her events on January 24 at Bridgeport, taking first place on floor (9.850), and taking second place on vault (tie-9.775) and bars (career-high of 9.750).
WHITESIDE'S CAREER-HIGHS
Sophomore Addy Whiteside has set new career-highs on each apparatus over the last three weeks, which includes her first career win on beam on February 8.
