Men’s Basketball Earns 80-71 Win Over Princeton

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown men's basketball team (9-15, 3-8) earned a 80-71 win over Princeton (8-18, 4-7) on Friday evening inside the Pizzitola Sports Center.
Landon Lewis led the way offensively for Brown with 21 points on 10-12 shooting from the floor, the reigning Ivy League Player of the Week also grabbed four rebounds, had two assists, and one block. Luke Paragon finished with a career-high 20 points on 6-12 shooting from the floor, the junior also had four rebounds.
Isaiah Langham added 11 points for the Bears, Brown outscored Princeton 44-20 in the paint. Brown's bench also outscored Princeton's 21-16. As a team, the Bears shot a season-high 61.2 percent from the floor.
Brown led by as much as 11 in the first half behind 15-23 shooting from the floor and 5-10 shooting from beyond the arc. Paragon eclipsed his previous career-high of 15 points with 18 in the first half, the junior shot 5-8 from the floor and 3-5 from three-point range in the opening 20 minutes.
Lewis added nine first half points behind 4-5 shooting, Langham chipped in with eight on 3-4 shooting. Brown's bench outscored Princeton's 10-2 and the Bears had 11 assists on 15 made field goals.
The Bears took a 42-37 advantage into the second half.
Brown extended its lead early in the second half to 50-41 in the first 3:17, the Tigers responded with a 10-0 run, taking a 51-50 lead. After the 10-0 run by Princeton, Brown responded with a 14-5 run to take a 64-55 lead.
Princeton fought back, cutting into Brown's lead as the Bears led 71-66 with 4:21 remaining before Brown pushed its advantage back up to 10 with a quick 5-0 spurt.
The Bears would hold on for its second-straight victory. Lewis led the way for the Bears in the second half with 12 points. As a team, Brown shot 57.7 from the floor.
Brown will travel to Columbia on Friday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. before traveling to Cornell on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 5 p.m.
