Track and Field Wraps Up Three-Meet Weekend

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Bears track and field teams were scattered across New England this weekend as Brown competed at the Crimson Elite & Multi at Harvard, the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University, and the Giegangack Invitational at Yale.

Seven different Bears earned top-10 marks in their respective meets, including junior Alyssa Jackson running a 24.01 in the 200-meter dash, tying her own school record that she set just last weekend.

WOMEN
Adding to her impressive season, Jackson placed second (7.57) out of 42 sprinters in the 60m prelims on Friday at Harvard before placing third in the finals with a 7.50-second sprint.

Jackson's record tying 200m dash on Saturday at BU placed her seventh overall out of 40 runners. Alongside Jackson, Anya Anderson placed 15th overall in the invite with a time of 24.48, keeping her at fifth overall on the program's top-10 list by improving her previous PR by .04 seconds.

Sydney Ruckett raced in the 400m invite and placed 10th overall out of 35 runners with a time of 54.94, which places her sixth overall on the program's top-10 list.

Senior Julia Schriefer ran a 4:47.63 in the mile, which placed her fifth all-time on the program's record sheet.

At Yale on Saturday, senior Simone Dunbar set a top-10 mark in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.55, placing her second in the finals and putting her sixth in program history. Freshman Sarina Parks won the 400m (25.84) and also competed in the 200m, where she placed sixth.

Simone Dunbar was the winner in the long jump (5.62m) and freshman Joyce Olawaiye finished second in the triple jump (11.57m). Junior Jillian Leahy placed third overall out of 16 throwers in the weight throw (16.11m) and freshman Angela Volkova placed third overall out of 15 throwers in the shot put (13.17).

At BU on Friday, junior Jake Haley set a program top-10 mark in the 800m at No. 10 with his time of 1:51.09. Junior Sebastian Margetts placed 61st overall out of 209 runners in the 3,000m with a time of 8:05.96, putting him eighth all-time in program history.

At Yale, freshmen Filippos Georgantas and Danny Killian qualified for the 60m dash finals where Georgantas finished third overall in 6.90 seconds and Killian placed seventh in 7.06. Georgantas also competed in the 200m open, alongside fellow freshman Vanson Vu. Vu placed third with a time of 22.55 and Georgantas placed fifth with a time of 22.78.

Junior Keith Daigneau placed second overall in the weight throw with a toss 19.48m. In the shot put, freshman Sean Wilton (15.82m) placed second overall and junior Karon Johnson placed third with a 15.41m toss. Senior Frank Monahan-Morang placed third in the long jump at a distance of 6.73m.

The Bears will return home next weekend as they host the Brown Invitational on Saturday, February 21st in the final tune-up ahead of Ivy League Heps.
