McDadi Caps Wild Comeback with Overtime Winner Against RPI
1/2/2026 9:00:00 PM | Women's Ice Hockey
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's hockey (10-7-1, 6-4-1 ECAC) earned a wild comeback overtime win over RPI (6-16-0, 3-8-0 ECAC) in Meehan Auditorium on Friday (Jan. 2).
India Mcdadi scored the overtime winner for her seventh goal of the season on a stellar pass from Jade Iginla, who found her co-captain breaking toward the RPI goal. McDadi got a stick on the puck and poked it past RPI goaltender Reese Keating (42 saves) for the game-winner, 1:32 into the extra period.
To make it to overtime, Brown pulled off an improbable comeback, erasing a 3-0 deficit with just over ten minutes left to play. Down 3-0 for the second-straight game, finally broke through with a goal from Iginla. India McDadi picked up the puck from the side board at Brown's blue line and found Iginla behind the defense who beat Keating to make it 3-1.
With the period winding down, Brown pulled Anya Zupkofska (13 saves) with over four minutes left in the game. The first empty net goal for the Bears came at 17:55 as Iginla picked up a loose puck in the corner in RPI's zone. Iginla sent the puck to Margot Norehad at the point who passed to Cadence Richards at the blue line straight on. Richards sent the puck on net and a deflection off an Engineer sent the puck into the back of the net to make it 3-2. It was Richards' first-career goal on College Hill.
Less than 20 seconds later, the Bears made a charge into RPI's zone but Iginla lost the puck in a scrum in front of the net. Sam Broz found the puck and cycled it to Norehad who fired from the top of the circle. Norehad's shot wet over the shoulder of Keating and tied the game.
Brown looked as though it would win the game in regulation as Iginla ended up with a breakaway with just over a minute to play but her shot went over the net and the game headed to overtime.
The scoring started in the second as RPI took advantage of a Brown penalty. The Engineers picked up a power play goal at 5:56. Just 17 seconds later, RPI beat Zupkofska again with a shot from the slot to make it 2-0.
The deficit grew as RPI scored its second power play goal of the game with a tip past Zupkofska at 9:26.
