Jackson Tops School Record as Track and Field Competes at Beantown Challenge

BOSTON, Mass. - The Brown track and field programs competed at Harvard's Beantown Challenge on Saturday, where junior Alyssa Jackson broke the women's program 60m dash record. Two other runners on the women's side, seniors Nimrit Ahuja and Simone Dunbar, also set a pair of top-10 all-time marks in program history.
WOMEN
Jackson highlighted the day with a new program record in the finals of the 60m dash, crossing the line second overall with a time of 7.46 seconds, surpassing the previous benchmark of 7.48 which had been held by Zion Lewis since 2018.
Also earning top-10 all-time performances on Saturday, Ahuja ran the second-fastest mile time in program history in 4:43.98, just 1.44 seconds shy of the program record. Dunbar also had a program top-10 in the 60m hurdles, finishing runner-up overall with a time of 8.57 seconds, which ranks eighth in program history.
Freshman Sydney Ruckett placed fifth in the 300-meter race with a time of 40.11. The 1,000 meters saw Julia Schriefer finish in 2:52.85, and junior Olivia Fraga placed fifth in the mile with her time of 4:56.68. Freshman Joyce Olawaiye took third place in the triple jump at 11.71m.
In the weight throw, senior Zoe Carter-Konate placed second, tossing 17.49 meters.
MEN
In the weight throw, junior Keith Daigneau placed first overall with a 19.08-meter toss, and junior Ethan Wordell placed third with a 17.92-meter toss.
In the long jump, junior Mubaraq Aderogba placed first with a 7.20-meter jump, while freshman Jerald Evangelista placed third with a 6.96 meter jump. In the high jump, junior Gabriel Liem Thai cleared 1.90 meters to take eighth place overall.
On the track, senior Solomon Miller ran a 6.83 in the prelims of the 60-meter dash and Elias Archie followed with a time of 6.84. Trevor Wilder ran a 34.48 in the 300 meters, Jake Haley placed eighth overall in the 1,000 meters in 2:36.38, Sebastian Margetts placed sixth in the mile in 4:09.04, and John Farrell placed fourth overall out of 40 in the 3,000 meters with his time of 8:28.68.
The Bears will return to action next weekend on Friday and Saturday, January 23-24 at Columbia's Dr. Sander Scorcher at The Armory in New York City.
