PROVIDENCE, R.I. - As the 2025-26 rowing season fast approaches, For Stars Network continues to release lists highlighting the top crew athletes in the country. While FSN recently named Elenna Seguin as the top coxswain in men's college rowing for the 2025-26 season, she isn't the only coxswain in the program to receive a spot atop one of FSN's preseason lists.Â
Jack Mershon, a rising sophomore from Bethesda, Maryland who coxed the Third Varsity for the entirety of last season, was named FSN's No. 1 men's rowing breakout coxswain for 2025-26. Mershon helped guide the 3V8 to a sixth place finish in the Grand Final at last year's IRA Championship and a third place finish in the Grand Final at the Eastern Sprints.Â
With Lizzie Mitchell, the coxswain for the Second Varsity during the 2024-25 season, graduating this past spring, an opportunity presents itself for Mershon to continue to rise within the program and contribute to Brown's winning ways.
FSN's list in its entirety is as follows:
1. Jack Mershon, Brown
2. George Bentley, Navy (HWT)
3. Jack Walker, Cornell (HWT)
4. Jack Petrus, Holy Cross
5. Luke Stroh, Boston U
6. Derek Kaiser, Drexel
7. Joseph Cutaia, Princeton (HWT)
8. Mike Kain, California
9. Alex Castellini, Columbia (HWT)
10. Connor Miller, Syracuse
