PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Following its dominating 46-0 shutout win over Georgetown in Saturday's season opener, the Brown football team is receiving votes in this week's AFCA FCS Coaches Poll.
The Bears (two votes) are one of four Ivy League teams receiving votes in this week's coaches' poll, along with Yale (13), Harvard (16) and Dartmouth (31). In addition, Yale, Harvard and Dartmouth are also receiving votes in this week's Stat Perform FCS Top 25 Poll.
Spurred by a consistent offensive attack and a stout defensive effort, the Bears held Georgetown's offense to just 183 total yards and no points. The Hoyas entered the contest averaging nearly 40 points and 450 yards of total offense through their first three games.
Brown's win was the highest scoring opening game shutout in the 100-year history of Brown Stadium, in addition to Brown's largest margin of victory and first shutout since the 2013 season. It is also the largest margin of victory in a season opener since Brown defeated New Hampshire 56-0 at Andrews Field in 1911.
Brown will return to action this Saturday night in a showdown at Harvard. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. on ESPN+ and BrownBears.com/audio.
