PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown football team is set to kick off its 139th season this Saturday afternoon when the Bears will welcome Georgetown to Richard Gouse Field at Brown Stadium for Football Alumni Day and Youth Day.

Brown Bears Football Report: Episode 1
GAME PROMOTIONS
- Youth Day: All children 12 and under receive $5 tickets (must be purchased at ticket window)
- Football Alumni Day: Football alumni will be welcomed back, with the 2005 team being recognized on-field at the end of the first quarter in honor of the 20th anniversary of their Ivy League championship
OPENING KICKOFF
- The Bears are 86-48-4 all-time in season openers.
- The Bears are 60-36-3 all-time in home openers at Brown Stadium.
- Brown enters 2025 having won three season openers in a row. The last time the Bears won for four straight season openers was from 2010-2013.
- Saturday's matchup will be the eighth all-time in program history. Brown is 6-1 all-time against the Hoyas, including 3-0 at Brown Stadium.
- Brown returns four starters and loses seven on offense from 2024 (min. 7 starts).
- Brown returns five starters and loses six on defense from 2024 (min. 7 starts).
SCOUTING GEORGETOWN
- The Hoyas are off to a 2-1 start, defeating Davidson 51-14 and Wagner 31-20 to start the year, followed by a 42-37 loss in a shootout last week against Lafayette.
- They lead the Patriot League and rank seventh in the nation with 39.7 points per game, hold the nation's second-best third down conversion percentage (57.1) and are fifth in the nation by averaging 3.0 sacks per game.
- Sophomore tailback Savion Hart has rushed for five touchdowns through three games and is averaging 82.7 yards per game.
- Senior Jimmy Kibble has averaged 78.3 receiving yards per game this season with a pair of touchdowns.
- Georgetown has used a two-quarterback system with Danny Lautner averaging 206.0 yards through the air with five touchdowns and one interception. Dez Thomas II has gone 12-for-17 through the air as well with one touchdown pass.

- James Perry welcomes five new assistant coaches to his staff in 2025:
Dan Mulrooney (DC/Inside Linebackers), Patrick Murphy (TEs/Special Teams Coordinator), Mitchell Jonke (QBs), Andrew Breiner (WRs), and Bryan Murphy (OLBs)
HEAD COACHING EXPERIENCE

- Andrew Breiner (Fordham: 2016-2017)
- Dan Mulrooney (Lock Haven: 2022-2024)
- Patrick Murphy (Saint Anselm: 2008-2015)
GROWING UP FAST
- Matt Childs capped a strong freshman season in 2024 by being voted the Ivy League Rookie of the Year.
- He was one of 30 freshmen named to the Watch List for the Stats Perform Jerry Rice Award, presented annually to the top freshman player in FCS Football.
- His 42.7 receiving yards per game ranked 14th in the Ivy League, while his 40.1 rushing yards per contest ranked 12th, with both marks leading all Ivy rookies.
- Junior James Murphy is set to take over as the Bears' starting quarterback in 2025.
- Murphy appeared in relief in the final three games last season, throwing for 259 yards and two touchdowns in the season finale at Dartmouth.
NOSE FOR THE END ZONE
- Senior Qwentin Brown has scored a rushing touchdown in six consecutive games.
- He tied for the Ivy League lead with nine rushing touchdowns in 2024.
