PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown football team dominated from start to finish in a strong 46-0 victory over Georgetown in Saturday afternoon's season opener at Richard Gouse Field at Brown Stadium. The Bears' defense limited the Hoyas, who entered the game averaging nearly 40 points per contest, to just 183 yards of total offense and posted eight sacks.
The win was Brown's largest margin of victory and first shutout since the 2013 season. The 46 points are the most scored in a home opener since 1950 and the most in a season opener since 1997. It is also the largest margin of victory in a season opener since Brown defeated New Hampshire 56-0 at Andrews Field in 1911, and the largest margin of victory ever in a home opener in the 100-year history of Brown Stadium.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
The Bears will travel to Harvard next Saturday, September 27 for a 6 p.m. kickoff. Live coverage will be available on ESPN+ and the Learfield Varsity Network on BrownBears.com/audio.
