A Century of Memories: Brown Stadium Turns 100

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University and the Division of Athletics will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Richard Gouse Field at Brown Stadium throughout the summer and the upcoming 2025 football season.
Thursday marks exactly 100 days to kickoff of the home and season opener against Georgetown on September 20. To commemorate the milestone, Brown has launched a microsite, BrownBears.com/BrownStadium100, honoring the century of memories and success of the historic venue. The website features photos from throughout the years dating back to the stadium's construction, a listing of the most memorable games in the stadium's history which fans will be able to vote on later this summer, a merchandise store to buy gear with the Brown Stadium 100 logo, and more features that will be released throughout the upcoming season.
Brown Athletics has developed an official logo in honor of the 100th anniversary, that incorporates elements from the stadium's architecture and other symbols of Brown Football. The logo will be featured on signage and branding around the stadium this season, including on the field.
VOTE FOR THE TOP GAME
Beginning in July, fans will have the opportunity to vote for the top game in the history of Richard Gouse Field at Brown Stadium. Fans can choose from a list of 12 games with the top 10 being unveiled each week online and on @BrownU_Football social media throughout the season, leading up to the No. 1 choice being announced ahead of the November 22 season finale. Since opening on September 26, 1925, Brown Stadium has hosted 506 games with the Bears holding a 270-223-13 (.546) record. Officially dedicated as Brown Field in 1925, the facility was not formally referred to as "Brown Stadium" until the 1970s. In 2021, the stadium was rededicated as Richard Gouse Field at Brown Stadium in honor of Richard Gouse '68, P'02 and his generosity to the program.
