PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Senior Annie Burton of the No. 21 Brown women's lacrosse team was named a Second Team All-American by USA Lacrosse, becoming the first player in program history to be named a Second Team All-American by the organization.Â
Overall, she is the eighth Bear to be recognized by the organization, with the previous seven being named Honorable Mentions. Burton is also the second USA Lacrosse All-American under head coach Katrina Dowd, joining Mia Mascone last season.Â
Earlier this season, Burton became the third player in program history to be named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List. She's had four or more assists in five games this season.
Burton was named First Team All-Ivy prior to the postseason, totaling 17 goals and 53 assists this season, breaking the program record previously held by Lauren Becker '87 for the most assists in a single season.Â
At the Ivy League Tournament last weekend, Burton became the second player in program history to eclipse 100 career assists, joining Becker. She also posted her 100th career point on Feb. 21 against Holy Cross.
Burton ranks seventh nationally in assists with a total of 53, and sixth nationally in assists per game with an average of 3.31.
