No. 8 Men's Crew Sends Three Boats to IRA Semifinals, A4 Qualifies for Grand Final

CAMDEN, N.J. - On Friday afternoon, Brown men's crew wrapped up competition on the first day of the IRA National Championship, with all four crews turning in impressive performances on Cooper River.Â
"All crews made it through to the A/B semifinals and tomorrow will be a big day," said Men's Crew Head Coaching Chair Paul Cooke '89. "Advancing to the Grand Finals is the goal. We can make a few adjustments from today. Everyone raced hard and they will be ready to go. Impressive effort by the Varsity 4 to make the Grand Finals."Â Â
The V8, stroked by David Person and coxed by Elenna Seguin, posted a final time of 5:34.620 in their heat race on Friday morning. Brown's top boat was locked in fro the start, finishing only two seconds behind California for first place. The 2V8, stroked by Isaac Hillicks-Tulip and coxed by Lizzie Mitchell, crossed the finish line in 5:43.530 and punched their ticket to tomorrow afternoon's semifinal after taking home a second place finish.
The 3V8, stroked by Gordy Gibbons and coxed by Jack Mershon, crossed the finish line in 5:48.060 and came in third place behind Dartmouth and California. The A4, stroked by Uros Bogdanov and coxed by Adelaide Poulson, made a statement late Friday morning by posting a final time of 6:23.350 and securing a spot in tomorrow's A4 Grand Final. Tomorrow will be the first Grand Final appearance for Brown's A4 in three seasons.Â
