No. 17 Women’s Lacrosse Keeps Ocean State Cup With 14-10 Win at Bryant

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The No. 17 Brown women's lacrosse team (9-3, 3-1) kept the Ocean State Cup with a 14-10 win at Bryant (7-6, 2-1) on Tuesday evening.
This is Brown's fifth-straight win in the Ocean State Cup and 12th overall win in the Ocean State Cup.
After Leah Caputo opened the scoring 50 seconds into the game, Bryant launched a 5-0 run in a three-minute span to take a 5-1 lead with 4:26 remaining in the quarter. Caputo's second goal of the game ended the Bryant run with 2:17 to go in the frame before Annie Burton cut the Bryant lead to 5-3 with 15 seconds left in the first quarter.
Greta Criqui's 100th career goal cut the Bryant lead to 5-4 before Bryant extended its lead back to 6-4. The Bears then scored two goals in 69 seconds to tie the game as Criqui and Avery Doran found the back of the net. Both teams added one more goal in the first half as the game went to halftime knotted at seven.
The Bears put a stamp on the game with a 4-0 run to open the second half, Criqui scored two of the four goals as Doran and Adele Atherton also found the back of the net. After Bryant snapped the Brown run with a goal, Caputo scored her fourth goal of the game to extend Brown's lead to 13-8 heading into the fourth quarter.
The Bears and the Bulldogs scored two goals each in the final quarter as Brown held on for the victory in its non-conference finale.
Criqui and Caputo paced the Bears with four goals each while Criqui also had a team-high six points. Doran joined Criqui with six points in the win as six Bears accumulated two or more points.
After entering the game to begin the second quarter, Anne Booth stopped five shots while allowing just five goals.
Brown will look for its fourth consecutive Ivy League win when they travel to Dartmouth on Saturday, Apr. 12 at 1:00 p.m.
