No. 17 Women’s Lacrosse Celebrates Senior Day With 19-5 Win Over Columbia

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The No. 17 Brown women's lacrosse team (8-3, 3-1) picked up a wire-to-wire 19-5 senior day victory over Columbia (3-8, 0-4) on Saturday afternoon at Stevenson-Pincince Field.
Brown had 12 shots in the opening quarter which led to four goals. The Bears had four different goal scorers in the first 15 minutes as Leah Caputo, Annie Burton, Avery Doran, and Greta Criqui found the back of the net.
Leading 4-1 heading into the second quarter, Brown opened the quarter with three consecutive goals to push its lead to 7-1. Maddie Joyce scored two goals in 24 seconds while Doran added her second goal. After Columbia stopped the Brown run, the Bears launched another 3-0 run to extend its lead to 10-2. Riley Peterson had two goals during the run while Criqui added her second goal.
Both teams added one more goal in the final minute of the first half as the Bears took a 11-3 lead into the second half.
The Bears continued their dominance in the fourth quarter as they outscored the Lions 4-1. Four different players found the back of the net for Brown as Peterson, Criqui, and Joyce all completed hat tricks. Kiki Tormey rounded out the third quarter goal scorers for Brown as they took a 15-4 advantage into the final 15 minutes.
The Bears picked up four more goals in the fourth quarter to earn its third consecutive Ivy League victory.
Burton matched a career-high with nine points, it was the second time she recorded nine points this season. Burton's 40 assists puts her second in a single season in program history.
Caputo recorded her 100th career point early in the fourth quarter as she finished with two goals and two assists, Peterson finished with three goals as Criqui and Doran contributed five points each. The reigning Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week Claire Mahoney stopped eight shots in the win.
Brown will conclude non-conference play on Tuesday, Apr. 8 when they travel to Bryant at 7:00 p.m.
