Track and Field Competes at Ocean State Cup

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Brown track and field programs competed at the Ocean State Cup at nearby Bryant. It was a strong day for the Bears, as several personal records were broken, and many young competitors had their chance to shine.
MEN
The men's team featured Ethan Wordell, who remains in ninth in school history in the hammer throw after improving his personal best to 60.13 meters.
Matthew Wing finished first in the 800 meter race with a personal best time of 1:53.79. The 1500 meter race included six Bears, as John Farrell claimed second with a personal best time of 3:54.26.
WOMEN
Multiple Bears placed first in the women's competitions including Delaney Seligmann who set the meet record in the long jump with a mark of 6.04 meters. Rachel Bibiu was second with a personal best mark of 5.75 meters.
In the hammer throw, Chidinma Agbasi was victorious with a mark of 56.40 meters. She did so on her sixth and final throw of the day.
Simone Dunbar won the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.50, while first-year Maria Camposano was just behind her with a time of 14.69.
UP NEXT
The Bears will return to action next week with the Friar Invitational (Friday, Apr. 11) and UMass Amherst Flagship Spring Opener (Saturday, Apr. 12).
