Track and Field Competes at Multiple Meets

PROVIDENCE, R.I., AMHERST, Mass. – The Brown track and field programs competed at the Friar Invitational and UMass Commonwealth Invitational this weekend.
MEN
FRIAR INVITATIONAL
Several Bears competed in the 800 meter races, with Matthew Doherty being the fastest (7th/1:53.31). John Farrell finished fourth in the 3000 meter with a time of 8:26.34. John Ryan was fastest for the Bears in the mile run, finishing 13th with a time of 4:12.38.
UMASS COMMONWEALTH INVITATIONAL
Daniel Sarisky had a strong performance in the 100 meter dash, finishing seventh with a time of 10.71. Karon Johnson was fourth in the shot put with a mark of 15.64 meters.
Ethan Wordell was second in the men's hammer throw, nearly setting a new personal record with a mark of 59.77 meters.
WOMEN
FRIAR INVITATIONAL
Emily Mrakovcic had a strong showing, finishing fifth in the mile run with a time of 4:50.19. Isolde McManus also had a notable performance, finishing third in the 5000 meter with a time of 16:50.98.
UMASS COMMONWEALTH INVITATIONAL
It was a strong day for the throws team as Michelyn Appiah finished sixth in the women's shot put with a mark of 13.18 meters. She also finished sixth in the discus with a mark of 42.35 meters. Chidinma Agbasi finished second in the hammer with a mark of 56.77 meters.
UP NEXT
The Bears will return to action next week at the MIT Sean Collier Invitational (Apr. 18-19) and Georgia Tech Invite (Apr. 19).
