No. 11 Open Sailing Team Finishes Fifth in ICSA National Team Race Championship, No. 3 Women’s Team Places Seventh

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown sailing teams concluded competition in the ICSA Open and Women's National Team Race Championships on Monday. The Bears hosted both events that ran from Apr. 24-28 at the Ted Turner '60 Pavilion at the Edgewood Yacht Club.
The No. 11 open sailing team finished in fifth place out of the top 16 teams in college sailing. The Bears were unable to capture fourth place after losing on a sail-off against Stanford. Brown closed out the event with a 13-9 record overall. This year's fifth place finish marks the Bears' third consecutive year finishing within the top five in the ICSA Open Team Race National Championship. Blake Behrens, Guthrie Braun, Leyton Borcherding, Helen Horangic, Caroline Keeffe-Jones, Emily Mueller, Brianna Ross, and Camren Spriggs helped lead the Bears to fifth.
The No. 3 women's sailing team finished in seventh place out of the top 12 teams in college sailing. The team rounded out the competition with a 5-6 record. Katharine Doble, Francesca Edmands, Kaitlyn Hamilton, Laura Hamilton, Menasha Leport, Katherine Majette, Katherine McNamara, Sidney Moyer, and Savannah Young represented the Bears in the event.
UP NEXT
The Bears will await selection for the Open Fleet Race National Championships. The women's team earned automatic qualification with their second place finish at the NEISA Women's Fleet Race Championship. The events will take place from May 20-30 at St. Mary's College of Maryland.
