Women's Sailing Finishes Ninth in ICSA Women's Fleet Race National Championship

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - The Brown women's sailing team completed their fourth and final day of racing in the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Women's Fleet Race National Championship, finishing in ninth place of 18 teams.
The Bears began competition in the Women's Western National Semifinals on Tuesday, May 20. They closed out day two of the semifinals in fourth place out of 18 teams, advancing them to the finals.Â
Thursday's weather made racing difficult, as only three races were completed in each division.Â
Competition came to a close on Friday evening with Brown finishing in ninth place out of 18 teams.Â
The Bears' A-Division team of junior Katharine Doble, sophomore Laura Hamilton, and senior Savannah Young finished out the competition in an impressive fourth place overall, just one point shy of third.
UP NEXT
The Bears will now shift their focus to their final competition of the season, the ICSA Open Fleet Race National Championship. The Bears will compete in the Eastern Semifinal on May 27-28 at St. Mary's Coollege of Maryland. The team will aim to finish within the top nine, and advance to the National Championship final on May 29-30.
