Women's Water Polo Beats Mercyhurst in CWPA Tournament

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's water polo bounced back with a big 17-3 win over No. 6 seed Mercyhurst in the CWPA Tournament on Saturday (April 26).
The Bears were led in scoring by Sabrina Shipley, Alexandra Love and Aubrie Anderson, who all found the net three times.
Somto Okafo led Brown in goal with five saves.
The Bears jumped out to an early 5-1 lead after the first quarter with two goals each from Anderson and Gabby Montalvo and one from Love.
Another five goal quarter, this time with two goals from Shipley and one each from Anderson, Love and Hanna Tidrenczel, gave the Bears a 10-3 halftime lead.
Brown would shutout Mercyhurst over the final 16 minutes of play. Claire Poissonnier, Tidrenczel and Ava Schoening all scored in the third as the lead ballooned to 13-3.
Shipley, Love, Katharine Knowles and Skye Andros each scored once in the fourth for the final tally.
UP NEXT
Brown will wrap up play in the CWPA Tournament with a contest against Saint Francis on Sunday (April 27) beginning at 9 a.m.
