Baseball Heads to URI for Wednesday Afternoon Non-League Matchup

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – For the second straight week, the Brown baseball team will match up against the University of Rhode Island in a non-league in-state showdown. Wednesday's first pitch from Bill Beck Field in Kingston is set for 3:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
The two teams met last Wednesday in Providence, a game the Rams took by a score of 16-6 in seven innings.

SCOUTING BROWN (9-22, 5-10 Ivy)
- The Bears are coming off their second consecutive Ivy League series win over the weekend, taking two out of three from Princeton, coming from behind to win the final two games 7-4, and 12-8 in 10 innings.
- Sophomore Ryan Oshinskie tossed 5.0 innings of relief last week, allowing just two hits and one earned run while striking out nine and holding opponents to a .118 batting average. A career-high seven of his punchouts came over 4.0 innings on Saturday at Princeton.
- Junior Mika Petersen leads the Ivy League with a .364 batting average and is second on the team with eight stolen bases. He batted .500 in the games at Princeton with five RBIs and three runs scored.
- Junior Logan Meusy batted .417 in the four games last week with an on-base percentage of .556.
- Freshman Bryan Yang is expected to make his second start of the year on Wednesday, his first appearance since March 29 at Cornell. His other start came in his collegiate debut at North Florida on February 23.
- Senior ace Santhosh Gottam started and went 4.0 innings on Saturday, then came back the next day to earn the win in extra innings with 1.2 scoreless innings of relief.
- Mark Henshon (.357), and Nathan Brasher (.353) and DJ Dillehay (.294) are all hitting over .290 over the last four games, with Christian Butera and Brandon Chang both hitting .286 over the same span.
- Junior pitcher Christian Keel has only allowed three earned runs over his last two starts, spanning 14.2 innings. He has struck out 11 batters in that time.
SCOUTING RHODE ISLAND (25-15, 15-5 Atlantic 10)
- Rhody is coming off a three-game sweep of Dayton at home over the weekend.
- URI has won four straight overall going back to last week's matchup in Providence, where seven of their 12 hits went for extra bases.
- The Rams have won nine of the last 10 matchups with the Bears. Brown won 23-5 back in 2022.
- Nick Notarangelo went 5-for-10 over the weekend with pair of doubles in his first action since returning from an early March injury.
- URI is hitting .311 as a team this season with six players hitting .299 or better.
- Reece Moroney leads the way at .387 and the Ram's all-time home run leader Anthony DePino leads the team with 14 homers this year to go with a .372 average.
