PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown sailing teams completed another weekend of competition with podium finishes in all four of their events over the weekend.
The No. 3 women's sailing team finished second out of 17 teams in the New England Women's Fleet Race Championship hosted by Yale. The event was cut down to a three-race series due to the lack of wind on Saturday, and increase in wind on Sunday. Brown finished within the top three in five of their six races. Their impressive performance earned them automatic qualification for the College Sailing Women's Fleet Race National Championship at St. Mary's College of Maryland on May 20-23.
The No. 9 open sailing team finished third out of 17 teams in the New England Open Fleet Race Championship for the Coast Guard Alumni Bowl at home. Conditions remained almost perfect with 20-30 knot winds over the weekend.
The remainder of the open sailing team competed in the George Morris Trophy hosted by Boston University, and the Boston Dinghy Club Cup at MIT. The Bears finished second out of 13 teams in the George Morris Trophy race, and third out of 10 teams in the Boston Dinghy Club Cup race rounding out another successful weekend for both teams.
