No. 3 Women's Sailing Earns Second in NEISA Women's Team Race Championship, No. 10 Open Sailing Wins Two Events

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown sailing teams had a strong finish to their weekend competition. The No. 3 women's team posted a second place finish in the NEISA Women's Team Race Championship, while the No. 10 open team won two races on the road.
Katharine Doble, Francesca Edmands, Kaitlyn Hamilton, Laura Hamilton, Menasha Leport, Katherine Majette, Katherine McNamara, Sidney Moyer, and Savannah Young took the Bears to their second place finish in the NEISA Women's Team Race Championship. Despite facing cold and windy conditions, the team finished with a 12-5 record in the 10 team event.
The open team won the 17-team Oberg Trophy Fleet Race at MIT hosted by Northeastern. The Bears beat out second-place Boston College by 35 points, winning both B and C divisions.
Julian Dahiya, Robert Diemar, Sasha Gordon, Phoebe Hackett, Tyler Lamm, and Janelle Li competed in the Admiral Alymers Team Race at Harvard, winning the event with a perfect 8-0 record.
The open team also competed in the Thompson Trophy Team Race hosted by Connecticut College. The Bears remained in closed battle for second place throughout the weekend, but closed out the event with a 10-8 record earning them fourth out of seven teams.
The women's and open teams now await selection to the Women's and Open National Team Race Championships. The fields will be announced on Tuesday, Apr. 15 at 7 p.m. The Open National Team Race Championship will take place from Apr. 24-26, with the Women's Championship Apr. 27-28. Both events are hosted by Brown, and will take place at the Ted Turner '60 Pavailion at the Edgewood Yacht Club in Cranston, R.I.

The open sailing team will host the NEISA Open Dinghy Championship, and will also compete in the Boston Dinghy Cup hosted by Harvard, and the George Morris Trophy hosted by Boston University.Â
The women's sailing team will head to Connecticut for the NEISA Women's Fleet Race Championship hosted by Yale.
All events will run through the weekend (Apr. 19-20) and begin at 10:30 a.m.Â
