Gymnastics Tops Bridgeport in Senior Day Dual Meet

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown gymnastics team topped the 194-point mark for the third straight week on Sunday as the Bears beat the University of Bridgeport in a dual meet by a score of 194.100-193.250 at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
Following the meet, their final home meet of the season, Brown honored its four-member senior class of 2025 in Julia Bedell, Maya Davis, Addie Liebhardt and Sophia Sokolowsky. Brown finishes its home schedule 5-0 in 2025, the second ubeaten season in Pizzitola in the last three years.
Highlighting the day, Davis took home the individual titles on both bars and floor (tie), Bedell tied for second on vault, freshman Avery Walters took second on bars and third on floor, and sophomore Emily Ford earned the individual win on beam.
The Bears started off with a 48.300 on vault, their second-highest total of the season. Umi El Mammann, Sophia Dewar and Bedell all tied for second overall to lead the team at 9.750, with El Mammann's score marking her season-high.
Brown posted a season-high 48.775 on bars, led by Davis in first place at 9.850, tying her career-high. Walters was next at 9.800 to finish second, followed by Liza Marcus at 9.750 in third place, and Dewar in fourth place by tying her career-high at 9.725.
Brown followed with a 48.150 on beam, led by Ford at 9.875 in first place. Lindsay Van Eyk followed at 9.800 to place second, followed by Lindsey Yang in fourth at 9.725 and Jessica Lin in a tie for sixth at 9.625.
Rounding out the meet on floor, Brown put up 48.875 to secure the victory, led by Davis in a tie for first at 9.850. Walters tied for third at 9.825 and Yang tied for fourth at 9.800. Bedell followed for Brown in eighth place at 9.725
The Bears will return to action next Sunday, March 16 in a quad meet at the University of Bridgeport, featuring all GEC squads including the host Purple Knights, Southern Connecticut State and William & Mary. The meet will serve as the final regular season meet ahead of the March 22 GEC Championships in Philadelphia.
