PROVIDENCE, R.I. – For the fourth consecutive week, a Brown gymnast has won a weekly award from the Gymnastics East Conference, as senior Maya Davis has been named the GEC Specialist of the Week.
In Sunday's home tri-meet against RIC and Southern Connecticut State, Davis dazzled with a near-flawless floor routine, winning the event with a 9.875, contributing to the Bears' season-high on the event. She also added a third place finish of 9.775 on bars. Her performances helped Brown earn its second-highest team total of the season of 194.575.
It is the first weekly award this season for Davis and the fifth for a Bears' gymnast, joining Newcomer of the Week Avery Walters (Feb. 26), and Specialists of the Week Emily Ford (Feb. 19) and Julia Bedell (Jan. 15 and Feb. 12).
Brown will host its final home meet of the season next Sunday, March 9, when it welcomes Bridgeport to the Pizzitola Sports Center at 2 p.m. for a dual meet on Senior Day and Alumnae Day. Tickets can be purchased at BrownBears.com/tickets.
